Re: Gyro stabilized foil

Ben says it feels like image stabilisation for cameras.

I believe you missed the fact that a tapered carbon tube also replaces the inflated leading edge.

And a rope was added so you could standup and pull the wing from the water.
That was April 1st 2018.

Re: Nice helmet with space for a neoprene cup/hood

I have the Decathlon and the Gath. The Decathlon is good but sits high up and doesn't allow me to wear it over a hood. I can wear my Gath over a hood.

Re: We need to talk about this: Pocket Foiling

On the basis of a pocket kite that you can pack away and relaunch very quickly, the more efficient kites struggle to fit that part of the remit.

Re: We need to talk about this: Pocket Foiling

BORN-KITE made a 3.2m Mk3 custom. That is about the ideal compromise of size for power & relaunch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w11uM4yxieo When I split the bridle of the 2.5m I joined the front 2 mini bridles and then the rear 4 mini bridles. This helps to give some ability to pump it from the f...

Re: The future of foiling

This is a good review (though in French) because it covers a lot of the possibilities and the compromises for different foil sizes and batteries.

Re: We need to talk about this: Pocket Foiling

BORN-KITE showing their 2.5m being used for foiling. https://www.facebook.com/100046466870748/videos/1140660100443343 Launching it on dry land. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3l-9LJ3K_k&t=8s IMO when the 2.5m is fully powered up, there is a risk of slicing your hand with a bridle line as you pull ...

Re: The future of foiling

It’s a cross between downwind and surfing without the logistics required for downwind, wave requirements for surf or a dock for pump. How much resistance does the motor part create when it hits the water surface, can it throw you if you are not careful or does it just dive in? Can you change how fa...

Re: The future of foiling

The line can get blurred a little by minimising the use of electric power. FliteLab have an Amp board that is intended to help you catch a wave on a prone board, but is pumpable (albeit heavier). Press a button and it only gives a short burst of power to catch the wave. There is no remote control. Y...
