Re: Question for solo kiters - how do you launch your kite?

Peter is spot on as usual! My equal first choice of both launch and land is a trusted friend and tethered method. Trusted competent friend is a second pair of eyes to make sure you haven't done anything stupid (oh yes we all do that). Tethered is the safest as you aren't even attached to the kite. S...

Re: Achilles Tendon Support

Rest assured, your repaired tendon will never break.
Especially if you are young and active they stitch it up much stronger than before. Before you start worrying about rupturing the other one it's very very rare that people have both go.

Re: Danger below the surface

We have a smaller version of your problem here at Minehead. I have already cut some down and will do some more this winter where they are in the best wave break. I have had a long correspondance with the local council because there are some metal stakes in the bathing areas too, they don't want to k...

Re: Cornwall or Devon

Have a look at the UK forum (Kiteboarder UK) where there is a good guide section. If beginners are involved then Exmouth for sure, very good school (Edge), works in most common directions and not far from North Devon (Saunton) when you want even more challenges. That area south of Exeter is very ple...

Re: Check out this super low tide!

Ahh thats nothing! It looks like that twice a day and night here!
Here in the Bristol Channel/Severn Estuary (SW England) in 2009 we had the following:

Highest tide 12.21m
Lowest tide 0.30m
Largest tidal range 11.86m

Thats a lot of water rushing out and then back in again.

Re: Kite would not fly!!

Interested to hear you are kiting in the Falklands, not that I'm ever likely to get there but tell us more, what's it like? Cool water? Long winter? Some of us Brits of a certain age still have an emotional attachment with the Islands. If you haven't already got it a brilliant learning aid is the se...

Re: Kite lopping/flapping in air.

The lines that leave from the ends of the bar need to be on the middle knots at the bar end. Then at the kite end of the same lines they should be on the knots nearest the kite. That is the most common setting, provided you have pumped it pretty hard then it should fly really well. It's a very good ...

Re: Fatal Accident At Zeeland

Pikey and Marc describe it well, the south of England and the north coast of France, Belgium and Holland have been taking a pounding for the last 2 weeks. The strength of the wind, often 30mph plus, is one thing, the most dangerous thing has been the gusts. They have been more damaging than usual, s...

Egypt for sure, try Abu Soma otherwise known as Safaga. Good hotels and the German school is pretty good.
