Re: Officially announced: North becomes Duotone

When are the new Duotone kites and boards coming to market? The Duotone brand will be officially launched on 1st of August. Previously, the market launches of the Vegas, Rebel, Dice and Neo kites were spread from August to October. This year the Duotone Vegas, the Duotone Rebel, the Duotone Dice and...

Re: Officially announced: North becomes Duotone

I sort of understand is if rolex became xelor would it still be rolex statement. Duotone might need to lower their prices at least at first. Hopefully eliminating the license fee for the name will allow them to do that. And the market will in the end tell if name had value when sales numbers start r...

Re: Officially announced: North becomes Duotone

Yes. Remember, I work directly with the marketing department... And it can happen that they North Sails comes with its own kites. Or maybe license to another brand. But they need to go a long way to get where Duotone is. It’s hard for me to believe any reputable existing company would saddle themse...

Re: Best bankrupt?

Well ... everybody's got an opinion. The sensible thing is to provide kites with a simple, lightweight sock with all kites and then provide a large, well designed backpack as an additional option. It is the most practical thing for packing a kite for short & long distance travel. All the Cabos I ha...

Re: I'll have to change my name now North Kiteboarding is no more..

Why are people even Speculating? The name was decided before this thread even started. I've spent a little time searching trademarks as a result of this thread thinking perhaps, B&M had another option but it appears that they are all in on duotone. It would be interesting to hear how the dealers to...

Re: Neo, Dice or Evo for 12m

I'd give the lowend nod to the evo.

It's easier to work the kite and is easier to get upwind.

I've flown the 12m evo but not the 12m neo or dice.

My biggest kite is a 9m evo.

I think 12m in the waves unless you are bigger is time to do something else.

Re: North Neo vs Cabrinha Drifter for wave/freeride

Plus one on that !!! Most every section , is surfing in side shore or cross off winds, where so called "Drift" is not even needed, I think and It's only my opinion, that we have been sucked into this whole Wave Kite / Drift marketing . an average "Freeride" kite is adequate for 99% of us. I think t...

Re: Firewire EVo versus Vader

The evo is about a half size larger at a comparable length. So comparing a 4’ 10” evo which I own and a 5’ 1” Vader, which I haves ridden it didn’t think the Vader had any advantage slashing a wave. In fact I would give the nod to the smaller board. However, the Vader was a bit better when the wind ...

Re: I'll have to change my name now North Kiteboarding is no more..

Its difficult to link search results from the actual trademark databases but you can search also duotone here https://www.tmdn.org/tmview/welcome and sort by date that is a pretty good search engine - if you advanced search by boards & more you find the graphic - interesting boards & more did trade...
