Wakeskate vs. Stubbie?

Just looking at the stubbies and comparing to wakeskates. What's the difference?

Why don't I buy a wakeskate off ebay ($50 - $100), bolt some straps onto it and go?

Nice ply wakeskates with grip, professional finish/ fins etc..

Anybody tried it?

Cheers,
Alan

Who Makes the Best Helmet?

I've stolen this thread from the yahoo group, as I felt it was a good one. Who makes the best helmet and why? With the recent fatalities and helmet pledges, I'm in the market for a new helmet. I think the one I have (a protec wake/snowboard version) is too big and would invoke a neck-damaging 'bucke...

Fold up scooters? Do you mean the little razor aluminium scooters that every kid seems to zoom around on? Interesting story. I read a book on the Polar Explorer Ernest Shackleton a while back. There was a family portrait in the book. His daughter was standing on an exact replica of those scooters, b...

Fo, I normally agree with you on many of your points. But it is my opinion that you are WRONG on this one. Steve and Traig are closer to the truth this time. I am from the school that an inexpensive trainer kite is one of the best investments in kitesurfing. I am also from the school that a group le...

For me, the best day of kitesurfing I've ever had was in a lesson. Not only did I progress the furthest, it was the best value-for-money I have EVER spent on kitesurfing. I think I was lucky to have a good instructor and decent (not great) conditions. I have had some not-so-great lessons in the past...

Do it yourself RECON?

Hi there, I've seen the recon video, and think it looks like a nice system. Now I don't expect any big manufacturers to come out with a rip-off system (and face the patent lawsuit), but should it not be possible to rig up the same system using your own carbon battens and a few rings? I think if you ...

Hi There, I started kitesurfing in Vancouver (now live in England). There are three good spots that I know of. Squamish, Boundary Bay and Jericho. The best people to contact are Airtime Boardsports. They will be happy to help you out. You should also try and get in contact with Chris Glazier. He is ...

Kiteboarding Mag

Just finished reading the latest issue. It still takes about 20 minutes to go through the whole thing, but this latest issue was, by far, the best ever. Well done to Ryan R and the rest of the KB staff for pulling up the standards such a long way. I used to agree with the cut-and-paste-flame-guy, bu...

I have a subscription to KB. A Christmas present. The first few issues were COMPLETE GARBAGE. I just got the most recent issue, and it is a LOT better. Well done to RR and the rest of the KB staff. There are still better mags out there, but it looks like KB is trying to catch up.

HELP with Tarifa Trip!

Hi There, I'm off to Tarifa on Friday!! Can anybody recommend a good school/rental shop. I'm bringing my own harness and bar (my trusty Ocean Rodeo), but will need a kite and board. I'm just starting to stay upwind, so some lessons would be great as well. I speak english only, so need an english-spe...
