This happened to me too with a SS bar after a failed trick. When the lines wrap around the bar the bar is frozen in what ever position it is in. In your case it sounds like bar was fully powered which puts the bar right up against the safety release (qr)so there is no room to push the release away a...

The only places I have kited on east coast of Australia are, Fingal bay by nelson bay just an hour north of sydney. Really nice smooth water session here. Also Southwest rocks up the coast aways. I made my kiteboard out of some cheap 15/32 plywood scrap I had laying around the house. I felt that the plywood had too many voids and was too flimsy so I sandwiched on some 3 or 4 mm marine grade mahogany plywood scraps that I had left over from a kayak project I did. This of couse stiffened it up...
