Re: Cape Town Visitors - Avoid killing each other

It's great that the locals have established a set of guidelines that work for them. However, unless it is signposted somewhere visible, it's unlikely that visitors will be aware of these. ... Lastly, unless there are minors involved, most kiters are adults and are able to make their own decisions a...

Re: South Africa - spot recommendations?

To keep this thread going: does anybody have local knowledge on when Scarborough/Witsands gets good winds? What to look out for in the forecast? Does it sometimes work when KiteBeach does not work, and vice versa? Or just only kiteable/pumping with the usual SE that also hits kitebeach? I've only k...

Re: South Africa - spot recommendations?

Remember that the locals are all friendly, but treat their spots with respect else you will get a 'poesklap'. I've experienced some very arrogant attitudes from travelling Euros over the years. Yeah Blouberg and Langebaan thankfully doesn't suffer as much from the entitled surfer attitude. I've exp...

Re: South Africa - spot recommendations?

If you want to kite as much as possible, I would not bother with spots outside Cape Peninsula. If there's no wind in Table View it's pretty much dead everywhere else (Misty Cliffs and Cape Point is the exception). Also maybe Struisbaai (3hrs) - it's usually the best after a strong day in Cape Town. ...

Re: How to fix delaminating Brunotti

You want to epoxy it, and if you do it it still will not turn out 100% brand new, but it will look 90% better. Check out my thread, I have a step by step of how I fixed my delamination, all for under 10 bucks. http://www.kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2398034&p=995806&hilit=delaminating#p995806 ...

Re: How to fix delaminating Brunotti

Was thinking rough sand would be better for epoxy adhesion. There's a layer of ink/paint on both the plastic and the board surface. Looks like the (pink and white) design layer split in half. I may need to sand this back to the raw surfaces to get a proper bond? Or just epoxy in down and hope for th...

Re: How to fix delaminating Brunotti

I don't know what is happening with Kosta recently :) Oh, I know, cold weather that is :) Anyways, even if you cut out this piece and splat some good PU varnish instead, it will be ok. Nails lacquer might work :) With some smiley faces for your gf... Pink glitter nail varnish. :cheer: She nearly lo...

Re: Converting surf board

I did this with a surfboard, and it seems to be holding up fine. The 4 deep nuts-in-plastic-plug is also half the weight of two fin boxes. Re: How to fix delaminating Brunotti

Hi, trust me, your hair will turn grey with this. Your girl will tell you that you are too stupid to fix this small ding. No one will hug you when you come after shift, no kisses, your sex live will turn out into a disaster. Take that in consideration. The foil is treated chemical to bond on the bl...

Re: How to fix delaminating Brunotti

Hi, dump it. The foil is a part of the structure. It will turn out in an on going story. You will invest in fancy glue's, invest in time, sanding paper and the results might be good, but no guaranty. Boards are not made to be used for decade's. tks Kosta I hear you, but glues and sandpaper is still...
