Repairing kite

I've found that the sticky tape applied to the canopy comes off after a while. Started sticking them down with stormsure adhesive and works wonders! I also repair the leading edge with it and saves a complicated sewing job 👍. Stormsure needs to be kept in the freezer once opened or it will go off.

Re: Kite quiver in Maui, place to rent a board?

Depending on how long you are there you could try Craigslist to buy a board. Maybe cheaper than renting

Duotone wam size

I had a 2018 or 19 wam - 5' 6 and around 20 kilos and worked perfect for me. Got to replace it and duotone seem to have increased volume on their boards. Not sure if to go for 5'7 with 24 kilos or 5'3 with 20 kilos ie not sure which board would have similar characteristics. Don't want to lose upwind...

Re: Sewing canopy zig zag - not wirking

Thanks for all the comments. I tried putting oil on the needle and that seems to work. Will machine sew along the lengths and I'm planning on hand sewing the ends as won't be able to twist the canopy to be able to machine sew them. To hand sew presumably I tie a knot in one end of the thread. Do I t...

Sewing canopy zig zag - not wirking

Trying to repair kite canopy. Stuck spinnaker tape on kite then tried using wife's sewing machine. Her machine does zig zag pattern on an old tea towel fine, but when I try it on my kite it's not working right. Just trying on an old kite I have at the moment. Anyone else had this problem? Any ideas ...

The best way to self land 4 line kite with low V

Sure this must have been done before, but this is the best way I have worked out to self land in a controlled manner reasonable safely. Firstly as always, make sure there is plenty of space with no obstructions or people around, then: 1. Bring your kite down resting on the beach as if you were going...

Re: Self launching

Thanks. I was thinking maybe I should position myself further upwind. May try that next time.

Self launching

When I self launch, my kite nearly always slides back in the window before launching. I position myself at right angles to the wind before trying to launch the kite. Anyone know how to make the kite launch without sliding back? Thanks...
