Re: Riders announced for Red Bull King of the Air 2018

Big Bay's a better venue as far as spectators are concerned (more parking space and you get an elevated sitting area from the beach to look at the action + loads of restaurants and bars for a bit of fun afterwards). As HPR wrote, Kite Beach has stronger wind generally speaking (probably 5 to 10 knot...

Surprised not to see Andries Fourie on the list.
Good call to have the event @ Kite beach rather than big Bay. Conditions in big bay tend to be more gusty

Re: 360 with kiteloop

Dragonfly / tautologies - thanks for the input - you are right... :thumb: That's indeed an invert 360 down-loop (not kite loop) transition (although i cannot really claim credit for the transition which has got to do with lack of control rather than intent). I think I was getting confused on the dow...

Re: 360 (invert / front) with kiteloop

Guys, sorry :( I am actually getting badly mixed up here). My question should actually relate to a trick involved is an invert 360 (front 360 - i.e. rotating toward the kite, Not away from the kite) with a kiteloop (not down loop). My questions are:  - lines aren't tangled when landing which p...

Re: 360 with kiteloop

I'd better start trying riding unhooked then because its' easier to say look @ my F16 transition rather than my backroll kiteloop transition !!!

Re: 360 with kiteloop

Thanks jespin4845 !

I had no clue that trick was called an F16 - thanks for the info !

I actually often get pulled so much downwind from the kiteloop that I end up landing the trick on the other tack (i.e. like a transition jump).

That would make it an F16 transition if such thing exists ?!?

360 with kiteloop

Hello there, A basic question. When I do a 360 (rotating away from the kite, not towards the kite) with a kiteloop (not down loop, kiteloop) I land with my lines untangled (i don't need to swing my bar). Just checking everything is normal in such instances or I am doing something wrong..... I think ...

Re: Ras sudr

kited in Ras Sudr back in 2007 and 2008. stayed at the Green Sudr hotel which is more than appropriate and right on the lagoons and beach front. There are two kite centers there. Great kiting there, Ras Sudr has wind blowing ALL day long which is a real plus. Great flat water on the lagoon for trick...

Re: beaufort scale for kiters

Nice on EDT. One variance on your Beaufort scale would also relate to whether you are kiting in a location with either cold or hot windflows due to the differences in air density. A 20 knots in a cold windflow would require a smaller kite relative to a session in 20 knots with a warmer wind flow (li...
