Re: Lombok

Was last year during Windseason in Lombok. Tourism is verly little, except the Gili-islands. Had a nice Bungalow straight on the beach in Kuta(Lombok) as only guest and paid less than 8.- $. Was in October in Sumbawa. Only the Peakwave was crowded, but at the other two waves at Lakey were no Surfers...

Re: Lombok

Other Spots in Lombok: Kuta and around. Little Wind, Reefbreak, empty beaches, many spots. Best one 3km east of Kuta. Lowwind even in Windyseason. Take big Kite and Board. Sekotong Bay Some Mountains around lets the wind excellarate. But Offshorewind with small islands ahead. Boatlaunch necessary. B...

Re: What is your killer lightwind setup?

Wouldn't say that u can only do a small jump and then fight upwind.
With the big foils and a big board u go straight upwind as soon as you go with lots of Jumps.
Some pics of a lowwindsession(6-9Knots) with the silverarrow:

Re: What is your killer lightwind setup?

In lightwind I focus on the board. Best Results not only by going early but by going early upwind is with the door/Spleene 164/42. Shure the monsterdoor goes even earlier. My Kite is a Speed2/15 because it goes upwind as soon as it goes. When Wind picks up I dont only change the board but also the k...

Re: Why do you participate in high-risk sports like Kitesurfing?

Kitesurfing had been a really dangerous sport.
Now since the invention of quickreleases and much wider windrange of kites and boards it is not a dangerous sport any more.
Shure, if you really want to commit suicide it should still be possible...

Re: Which equipment did you start kitesurfing with?

My first kite to go on water was a nasawing 9m. Not relaunchable. And the board was a wakeboard without straps all together on a gusty lake. Maybe u can imagine how the first sessions went... first success was in lanzarote with a 9m foil with handles, no harness and a surfboard 1999. Didnt even know...

Re: Hang Time

Hi,
I also kite in Bali a few months each year.
In reality the wind is not 10-18Knots but 7-18 Knots.
In the very low wind nothing beats big foils in hangtime and power.
