Kitesurfing vs Winging

After only 12 sessions with the wing I found wind range of 17 - 25 miles, normally 9m kite with surfboard, to be more exciting with the wing even compared to kitefoiling on Great Lakes where the real waves start to appear in 25+ miles. Now I'm questioning if in 25+ I would be better off winging safe...

Re: Kite for foiling in 20/25 knots

boosting and freeride, not race. Slash with foil becomes go fast kite. No boosting no freeride with kite loops. I loop Pivot and it behaves like Boxer although you have turn downwind to tame it. Slash behaves like a race kite with foil when you loop it. It charges like mad across the wind window. F...

Re: Kite for foiling in 20/25 knots

Don't get wave kites or kites that fly way upwind. Naish Pivot for example does the job perfect and is similar in behavior to one strut Boxer but it's wave incarnation Slash doesn't work with foil in small sizes for me at all. When you loop it, it charges from one side of the window to the other lik...

Re: Driving to Hatteras from Ontario

https://goo.gl/maps/nwHu1ytKwavmCo5H6 We've taken slightly different variations of this route over the years. We try to avoid the DC traffic. We also try to mostly avoid the tolls if we can as well. We've taken the tunnel or bridge in Norfolk depending on traffic reports. Some guys like to drive st...

Re: Driving to Hatteras from Ontario

I used to go via Baltimore loop but now I try to avoid the major metro areas because of traffic. As you can see I also take slightly longer loop in Norfolk because of more traffic near Virginia Beach.

Re: Call the industry to unify inflation valves

You can only brake the pushpin by twisting the hose against it. I had it figured out the second I looked at it. Never had a problem. Naish gives you a spare valve and a tool to remove it in case you brake it. If you brake it the second time go back to Boston. I put high miles on my car and interior ...

Re: Call the industry to unify inflation valves

Boston is lighter and simpler, but I find Halkey to be the most reliable, clean and solid. Boston inevitably gets sand fowled with tiny valve leaks (until capped), or threading issues. The issues are minor, but I haven't encountered them with a Halkey. North is not the standard Boston. Its a slight...
