Re: On Shore Wave Kites

If you are in side shore waves or side off, the kite is parked and drifting downwind. Cabrinha Drifter is a great example of such a kite. If the wind has some on shore to it, you are forced to move the kite. Quick pivot turning without big pull is a big help. Naish Pivot is a great example. Direct o...

Re: Pivot Unbaised Review. Good Kite For Surf?

as the name implies, pivot is great at a fast pivot turn that won't generate a power surge - very useful if you are in side-on conditions where you can't park and drift anyway. it is also great for free ride, jumping, easy looping, ... the down side is I would say drifting is about average. also, wh...

Re: Sure bet places for wind?

I agree 95% is a pretty high bar. Even Maui in summer can get shut down by a tropical system. But I'll add these as super consistent:

Bahia Salinas, Costa Rica, Dec-Feb
South Texas, US, March-May
Rhodes, Greece, July-Aug

Re: Hawaii, where to kite?

I suggest Maui and kite beach for reliable wind and best launch. I have visited other islands but very little luck kiting. Two choices for happy wife + kid. 1) stay in the north shore within 10 minute drive of kite beach such as a Paia (this will be apartment or house in a very small town near the b...

Re: Strapless board shape?

great points above. don't forget board volume & fin placement. Also huge for board feel. If you kite 100% in the same conditions there will probably be a best board and ask locals. Otherwise, you'll eventually want more boards than you can afford: a down-the line perfect wave board, a light jumpy fr...

that's cutting it close - don't forget that on the way back you might not have time to fully dry everything and some extra sand can easily sneak in...

Re: Kahului, Maui kite trip

November is a great month for waves + winds. Great right breaks. If I wasn't goofy this would be my favorite place and time.

Re: Barbados

how about these guys?

or Cabarete? or start a new thread 'where is the best place to learn waves'?' you're looking for no shallow reefs and either rescue service or if it goes bad you safely wash up on shore.

Re: Naish pivot 2017 8 or 9 meter?

I've used multiple brands and pivots and don't find their sizing off in any way. this is not at all a grunty or oversized kite that makes you need smaller. and as the name implies, it pivot turns with almost no power, so it is not a kite you're likely to feel overwhelmed with in turns, jumping, loop...
