Puerto Rico: Shacks photographer yesterday? (Feb 11, 2023)

Anyone know who the in-water photographer was out at Shacks yesterday? I think he got a few shots of me, and I’d love to try and connect and see some of them/pay for them. I kited by, and I think he said his name was Arlen, but then I had a major kitemare and washed up way down the beach and could n...

Re: Exploring Cuba? (beyond Cayo Coco, Guillermo)

Interesting political discussion, but...

Does anybody out there have any info to help with the original question? Any tips would be much appreciated. Gracias!

Exploring Cuba? (beyond Cayo Coco, Guillermo)

Getting ready to head down for two weeks in Cuba with my kiting girlfriend. Not primarily a kite trip, but we do hope to find a few nice spots. While the kiting in Cayo Coco and Guillermo looks really nice, we aren't so into the all-in-one resort vibe. Hoping to find some other spots along that mass...

Re: Retiring in or near Hatteras, NC- Outer Beach

Hatteras is great. But general rule of thumb with real estate there is to buy Oceanside and just wait a few years until your property is Oceanfront.

Re: need some good kiteboarding spots in cape charles va

Yes, still plenty of wind during the winter here. The majority of it is out of the north though, which means cold and chilly. I now relocate to Puerto Rico for most of January through April or so, but there are still a few other kiters here.

Re: need some good kiteboarding spots in cape charles va

Cape Charles Beach offers easy access and shallow water right next to our little town with an outdoor shower and a few options you can walk to for food and drink after your session. It is most popular with SSW to WSW winds, when some of the Virginia Beach riders come over, but it also works well fro...

Re: finding a pin-hole in main bladder

Another good reason to use the soap method to find the hole BEFORE removing the bladder is that you often don't need to remove the whole bladder after all. Half the time the hole turns out to be near one of the tips or near the middle, and in either case, you can just pull out a little bit and fix i...

Re: help purchasing my first kite???

buy used first Yes, this could be the best advice. Not so much because you'll beat up your new kite (who cares? - easy to fix), but because you can likely afford more used kites than new kites. And you will learn more quickly with more kites. Many people end up struggling during their first year wi...

Wind-powered air compressor

Why isn't there one of these at Real? Or at a kite house in Cumbuco? Or at your beachfront house?

Let the wind do the pumping.

Re: kite Pump Concept Design

An alternative pump design doesn't necessarily need to compete with the big, cheap pumps that we already have. What we need is a "downwinder" pump - something small enough that I can strap it to the back of my harness. But not the super crappy little hand pumps from the early days of kiting - those ...
