Re: Hello all help with rigging wipika air blast

The AR5 was my first four line LEI in 2000. I was once lofted 175 ft. into the side of a house on one of them. Rig it in an honored place in a museum. Seriously, your health isn't worth cheaping out on a newer, better designed, more reliable kite. This comes from long and painful personal and collec...

Re: Opinion on NP helmets

Are the ear covers that easy to fall off? Can you secure them in any way so they don't fall off? Can you buy replacements? Each helmet had a lot of use, that was about four or five helmets in full-time service over 17 year period. They were never badly dinged they just wore out. The ear cover reten...

Re: Opinion on NP helmets

I wouldn't use the Gath Surf Hat for kitesurfing for the reasons you suspect. I currently use the NP helmet and have done for several years. I used the Gath Gedi for several years as well. I used the Protec Ace Wake for many years before that as well but preferred the other two helmets due to their ...

Re: What is the international signal for "Abort launch"?

Our community often lacks good communication internally. To see someone smashed and thrown into the hospital over a bad communication is pretty memorable but only if you know about it. There were several accidents but want to particular motivated me to put together the signals in 2002. It involved a...

Re: What is the international signal for "Abort launch"?

After looking at way too many accidents, I disagree. In many other sports signal conventions were adopted long ago. Kiters need to pay attention and adopt some of this common sense stuff to avoid problems. [quqote=dice post_id=1021233 time=1531567186 user_id=95710] Please don’t spread chaos & confus...

Re: cabrinha Apollo for light wind

I would recommend going with the Contra for the best low end performance.

Re: What is the international signal for "Abort launch"?

I posted these hand signals in 2002 on here, as no one else was really proposing a uniform set of signals at the time. There have been some bad kite accident related to miscommunication so the need was obvious. I borrowed some from diving and common sense. The clenched fist basically means to hold, ...

Re: What is the international signal for "Abort launch"?

A clenched fist held out to the side. It is best to go over the basic hand signals before launching so that there is no confusion.

Re: Cabrinha Contra 17 or 19m?

Try to hook up with Damo LeRoy during one of his demo's or perhaps Kitty Hawk KItes could set you up? Btw, my 16.9 m Airblast had a flat area of 23 m, larger than my hang glider at the time and was a "sky brick." Times move on fortunately, some large kites can be faster than you may imagine.
