Re: Shocking Winds!

If you weren't so American-centric you would know that other parts of the world are having record temperatures; e.g. Sydney was 47 degrees centigrade yesterday. Last year was the second hottest year ever recorded despite being at near solar minimum. Solar variation over a sunspot cycle is tiny, abou...

Re: Are Switch kites getting any better?

The big V6 Elements don't look anything like a Rally. They are not at all delta shaped and appear to be higher aspect than in the past. I think Switch are trying to make the Element more all-round and less wave oriented. All conjecture as I haven't flown one.

Re: Are Switch kites getting any better?

That's Marc Jacob's dog, and he is not very big. I guess the 3m is for high wind foiling or small children.

Re: Who is an ambidextrous foiler?

I am natural footed but I prefer wave kiting goofy frontside probably because the bar is in my right hand. I am just learning to foil and prefer goofy for the same reason. I find starting natural difficult as by habit I put my right foot on the board first and you can't do that on a foilboard.

The cyclone season cutoff is April 30, but the sea su...

1.6°C/century.
That is consistent with natural variability. Is this "this time is different" argument?
What rubbish. This rate of change is unprecedented in human history:

Re: Shocking Winds!!!

If you analyse the UAH chart that you have just provided, you will see a clear warming trend of 0.16°C/decade, i.e. 1.6°C/century.
This is bang-on the mid-point of what the experts and climate models have been predicting given known forcings.

Re: Game changer - Onewheel teaches how to turn on a foil

An interesting comment because I have a Onewheel but don't foil. The Onewheel is very easy to get the hang of, it probably only takes about 20 minutes. I imagine foiling is much more difficult because of the variability in the wind. Maybe I should give foiling a go, and see how quickly I pick it up....

Re: Opinions wanted Switch Helium2

I wouldn't recommend a Helium for foiling. It is not a super efficient high aspect race kite but rather a powerful kite for getting high drag boards onto the plane in minimal wind. It tends to sit quite far back in the wind window once planing.
