buy yourself a cheap 2nd hand surfboard when you get here, there are hundreds of surf shops in WA. i think the torch would be fine for unhooked wave riding, no need to buy anything new. unhooking in the surf lets you open up your hips and shoulders a lot more for turns and i think it feels a lot smo...
so basically you are too scared to unhook, ride progressively, or push yourselves. so you try to legitamise old school dangle tricks that any numpty can do to make yourself feel better about being lame.
