Re: I suck at jybes

Hi Guys, I have to weigh in here. By far the easiest way to learn the foiling gybe is with two front straps. Any the main reason is this: Straps (if they are in the correct position) make it easy, because your front foot will always be in the right (balanced) position after the switch. Some foils ar...

Re: Foil SUP

Hi Gunnar, You showed a photo of the Kai foil mounted in a base on tracks. Is that a successful method? Hi dude, Yes. I use the aluminium Groove Adapter and it works great. -- Gunnar Thanks Gunnar! Who makes the Groove Adapter? The only similar adapter I can find is the Alpine one. I've seen a coup...

Re: Foil SUP

Yes, of course area and total lift is not the same Gunnar. But you can not design a "stable" wing with more lift - it is physics and not possible. If you have more camber and a bigger wing, it IS less stable (more pitching moment from the wing), and will require a bigger or more aoa rear wing. Of c...

Re: Foil SUP

Sure about that ? Average sizing maybe (whatever that is ha haa) too small yes. But some standard kitefoil wings are almost 900 cm2, THAT is big :thumb: 8) PF It is not just the general size that makes a good SUP Foil. If you look at the go foil kai, it has a profile thickness of around 36mm on the...

Re: Help - how to tack? Especially strapless

For learning tacks, power is your friend. If you are really powered with short lines it is very easy as it takes less time for the kite to get to the zenith. However the reality is that most people are not going to foil with super short lines. It's just not practical for most kiters, and also a lot ...

Re: Advice on the upwind carve 360 turn thing.

Another thing. A lot of people saying "ducking under the lines". If you need to do that, you are not flying the kite actively enough. If the lines are in the way, you have left the kite behind. So pull more on the back hand. You are following the kite around, so the lines should be in front of you a...

Re: Advice on the upwind carve 360 turn thing.

Thanks Gunnar, that's immensely helpful to see both kite and rider in 1 video like that. I would be happy just mastering the 180 heelside to toeside carving tack. With that video, I think I have come the closest yet to envisioning this. After watching the video 20 times and air kiting with it, tell...

Re: Help - how to tack? Especially strapless

Thanks Frank, Gunnar for the suggestions! Can you do full 360s? I think that is an awesome maneuver, but actually relatively easy and a very good first step on the way to master the roll tack. No I can't, again not yet. I feel like if I crack the 360 I'll get the tack to toeside, and probably vice ...
