Re: Question Profile Go Foils ?

Random observations: Often hydrofoil makers start with a known naca section or similar and scale it to be thinner... and scale other parameters as well. Scaling factors will be different for each parameter, e.g. start with model X “1.0” and modify to “1.1.2” which might be 90% thickness of X 1.0, 10...

Re: Travel bag for Lift 170

Impressive they are still selling this design, since it would be hard to fit the big wings in a triple coffin bag - if the bag also contained a board or two. For me thats an issue, because if i am paying extra bag fees, there’s going to be a surfboard or two in the mix...

now in the public domain and un-patentable.
No worries, it’s been done before anyway

Re: What is this thing ?

That short video clip shows it pretty perfectly with respect to kite hydrofoils. The vortex is not visible until it has air in it. The foiler breaches a wing and you can clearly see the air propagate back through the vortex as it is sucked in by the negative pressure within. It's pretty impressive,...

Re: Onda633 fuselage too heavy, any way to make a carbon one?

Downunder’s gear can be 30% lighter than normal gear because he weighs 30% less. Occasionally he remembers to include this caveat in his postings. No disresepect, he builds nice looking stuff!

Re: Gong single strut kite

Ive flown clouds since they came out, and borrowed a solo for a brief session in light wind last year. 17.5, pulled like a truck, turned like an oil tanker, weighed ...plenty. I wonder if it is really lighter than a light multi strut kite. This might matter less in smaller sizes but big deal in 12m ...

Re: wave riding: why isn't bigger better?

I think increasing wing size benefit is equally about extending low speed performance, reducing uncontrolled acceleration, and increasing pitch stability without getting “locked in” to too much yaw and roll stability. 733D7D95-430A-45B6-97FC-2959E4ECAEE9.gif I think the goal for fun and stability is...

Re: how do you repair moses silente mast?

Looking at the pictures there is a rust stain that goes down from the plate into the top of the mast, and the plate itself looks like a mix of fiberglass and carbon. The best way to fix it would be without adding metal, especially aluminum, which has worse corrosion problems worse and faster than st...

Re: how do you repair moses silente mast?

I would try to get someone who is an experienced carbon artist to rescue that mast, unless you are pretty confident yourself, and not worried about losing your foil if it breaks again. Converting to tuttle or rebuilding the top of the mast/plate are both options... would not put any metal plate in t...
