Re: wave riding: why isn't bigger better?

Not sure as I ride 800 size maximum but only weight 66kg. It's all about wing loading. One reason could be that sometimes you need to outrun the wave, a super large wing could be too slow.

Re: Harness with Sliding spreader bar

Some brands offer slider bars with special rope that has friction and takes a little effort to slide, this provides some stability unlike some dynema/metal ring combos which are super slippery.

Re: Nick Jacobsen leaves Cabrinha team

But I am sure they would call it 2020 products...not 2019...imagine everyone releases the 2020 gear next year and only North 2019. Wouldn’t make sense. But, from psychological view I assume they say now 2019... I think some brands should stop naming their products by year as it is misleading for ma...

Re: Nick Jacobsen leaves Cabrinha team

Ah, sorry, I referred to another presss release. Guess they made a mistake...should be 2020 product range... My sources say the North products will be available mid 2019 so nothing wrong in naming them 2019 products. Just because some manufacturers battle on who is going to release so called 2019 p...

Re: Foot switches with smaller board

Exact, not much difference especially if you are using straps. If anything width makes more difference, forces you (in a good way) to be more precise if strapless.

Re: Fone mirage 1000 vs Moses 633

Never used a rubber mallet to dismantle F-one wings, that's GoFoil which uses a similar system and are delivered with a mallet. As for strength bigger wings were not designed with jumping in mind as manufacturers recommend smaller wings for jumping as they are less likely to break. The different des...

Re: Fone mirage 1000 vs Moses 633

Advantage of Moses is the screws can be bought off the shelf from several suppliers. Very simple and low tech system, with backwards compatibility. Personally, I don't disassemble my foil to put it in my van, only for travelling... What an argument :D ! Sure, the more small screws the more you are ...

Re: Fone mirage 1000 vs Moses 633

Same for me, have been kite foiling since 2005 and owned a bunch of hydrofoils from different brands using the traditional 3 or 4 screw system. The first versions of the F-One one screw assembly had a few quirks but the 2018/2019 versions work seamlessly. Foil is assembled or disassembled in under 1...

Re: improving upwind angle

If I am using a low aspect strutless kite and a fat surf wing, will a different wing allow better upwind angles or am I still limited by my kite? To make things clear and all things being equal: 1) A higher aspect wing will improve your vmg but not the upwind angle. 2) Strutless (and 1 strut) kites...
