Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

The last storm has helped to keep things covered at Lizard Head. The snow is still pretty fun. The wind today on the other hand, yikes! I am a connoisseur of junky wind and let me tell you this stuff was dog balls. One second the kite would out of the sky, the next second a gust would literally yan...

My last Lizard ride!
Good strong gusty S wind.
Sometimes it looks like snow......but mostly water! Hahaha
I got a bath of freezing melting snow!
Oy! That last picture. I don't think I'd have the mobility with a snowboard and gusty wind to guarantee I didn't end up in that pool :o

Re: How does your bar handle center line Twists?

...I may take some gopro this week, if I do, I'll post a video of the swivel working 100% of the time. I'm surprised there isn't more praise for the LF swivel. I freaking love it. No more bar spin and then manual center line spin or riding with center lines until you do an opposite rotation. Which ...

Re: How does your bar handle center line Twists?

...Spinning a bearing with no load = jack shit  That was my experience when I bought the Wainman swivel. I was like, "damn! this thing really is smooth." Then I installed it and it wasn't any different than the one it replaced in practice. I suppose also, different kite designs put varying rot...

Re: How does your bar handle center line Twists?

And if you fly with a camera line mount, you can even get twists above the camera, below the camera, AND below the swivel... all at the same time!
Good times. :)

Re: How does your bar handle center line Twists?

Have had many and still have a stock bar with a swivel. Can honestly say they aren't necessary, and I bet that many would prefer not having them once they get used to it. My foil/wave bars don't have em. I don't do a lot of rotations, but I loop the kite a ton. Do it in both directions and it kind ...

Re: How does your bar handle center line Twists?

...Then you have the new Core and North systems with the bearings beneath the QR, and they spin so freely that spinning the bar will spin the swivel too. Downsides for those is that, same as the older systems, they rely on friction between the bar and depower line, making sheeting and sharp turning...

Re: How does your bar handle center line Twists?

Hard to know, it is kind of confusing. I bought two new bars at the same time a few years ago both with the same above the bar swivel. One always worked, the other never worked. No matter what I did or tried. So, I ended up just using the one bar that worked. Replaced the other swivel but no better...

How does your bar handle center line Twists?

Was wondering what systems are out there that best handle center line twists? Let's skip for a moment that you can balance your loops in both directions so it's not an issue, as for many folks it is a concern. Center Line Spinners - some folks love them. I've tried a few different versions and for ...
