Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Got out to Colorado last week for some boarding, and between a couple days at Telluride and a few days at Silverton, I had set some time aside to snowkite. I had one day of good wind, one day of marginal and one day of none... ...I have to again give a huge thanks to matthepp for the sincere hospita...

Re: Cuba for novices

I guess in this forum there must be many people who could give you better info than me, but since I've just coma back from a 8 days trip, I'll give you my 2 cents. Cuba is just fantastic, not only for kiting but for enjoying the whole experience. If you've never been in Cuba, I wouldn't go there in...

Re: Obama is now a kitesurfer and Richard Branson is foiling..

I got give Obama credit, he was up and riding. Lets not forget he is from Hawaii. Well it depends who you ask. Alex Jones says he's from Kenya. I think it's very cool that he's out there relaxing with Branson and he tried a new sport. I didn't see that Kerry's interest in the sport had any im...

Re: Knee injury upon landing jump; thoughts on what it is?

Figured I'd close the loop on this, which I always try to do in case someone stumbles across this post down the road... MRI report said "Lateral meniscus: There is a longitudinal tear through the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus. There is no significant extrusion. No displaced fragment i...

Re: Anyone using a Hero5 on their Kite?

I received a response from GoPro which clears things up. skidee's noted this as well. But, for the formal answer... The Smart Remote is compatible with HERO5. It delivers full remote control of all camera functions, including shutter, on/off and settings. You can remotely control your HERO5 from dis...

Re: Rally 8 + 12 ok?

I...Either should match the lowend of your 13 Fuel... I don't understand why people keep saying this, a 10 or 11 of any kite is not going to have the same lowend as a 13m fuel. a 13m fuel has just as much low end as any other 13m kite. on topic: 12-8 is a big gap but you can make do with it. the 9 ...

Re: Anyone using a Hero5 on their Kite?

You "kinda" got me.. ;) Thanks for the honesty, so much fake news. It does work well. GoPro thought it through. I actually think the old Hero2 external WiFi backpack had better range than the new one which sometimes loses the camera when connected to the kite. But it regains connect...

Re: Rally 8 + 12 ok?

I have a friend that does 7/10 Rallys and is pretty happy with that. If you are going from an 8, I wouldn't jump to a larger kite than an 11. Even a 10 would be a good choice. Either should match the lowend of your 13 Fuel. I do think the 12 is slow. It's my lightwind kite, it gets the job done. 10 ...

Re: Anyone using a Hero5 on their Kite?

...and concerning the remote's battery life. If you turn the camera off yet leave the remote on, the remote will continue to search for the camera; thus draining the remote's battery. The remote's battery charge last about 2 hours max. ? No offense, but I'm starting to think you haven't used the re...

Re: Anyone using a Hero5 on their Kite?

Just link the remote with the camera and hit the shutter button prior to doing a trick, then stop recording after the trick. You can continue to do the power on/off if you'd like. But if your session is less than 2 hours, keeping the camera on and hitting the shutter button as described above will ...
