Re: Ram air caught in surf disaster

All so in waves and surf an inflatable kite can end up the same. Any serious wave rider will agree that you don't want to be attached to a down kite as it gets pummeled by waves. Amen to that. I confess to having been in the same situation as in the video, with lines wrapped around my legs, struggl...

Re: Kite foiling and sargassum?

You can't foil where there's seaweed. Even if the foil manages to cut the seaweed, it will still stick to the wing, so 1 second after hitting it your entire foil is covered in it and you end up turning your foil upside down while keeping your kite in the air, pulling it off the wing, then you body ...

Re: Offshore Wind

As Plummet wrote, it's all about wind direction. You asked: Is it hard to catch waves with dead offshore wind? ...and the answer is that yes, it's almost impossible to catch waves if the wind is dead offshore (meaning straight offshore). You would have to edge like crazy to have any hope of staying ...

Re: My new project : iGetwind.com

Thanks for creating this! Could you add a feature to allow users to customize which hours are shown each day? For example, 06h to 18h as opposed to 06h to 22h? In tropical areas of the world, near the equator, the hours of daylight are roughly 06h to 18h both in summer and in winter. So, most kitesu...

Re: Mauritius - intermediate waves?

In any case, I agree with Strekke, Onda and vannibombonato that Manawa shouldn't be underestimated. It's definitely a spot where things could go seriously wrong. In addition to the good advice that has already been given, I would add that if you decide to head out to Manawa, make sure to keep an eye...

Re: North Rebel 11 2014 slow and hard bar presure vs Cabrinh

Maybe you are already aware of this, but I'd like to point out that neither Switchblades nor Rebels are known for being fast or for having low bar pressure. Asking which of these kites are faster and have low bar pressure, is a bit like asking " Harley Softail or Indian Chief, which one is faster an...

Re: Hua Hin late march?

March and April are basically the best months for kitesurfing in the Hua Hin area. The beach is wide at that time, making it easy to launch and land, and due to the heat inland on sunny days, the thermal winds are the strongest and most reliable at that time of year. That being said, when I write "s...

Any one with expirience with the cabrinha drifter and the pivot that can tell me the pros and cons between them? And also maybe comoare with the razor? Thanks :P I have moderate exper...

Re: Mid to high aspect for cross, cross off wave riding.

Sweet! That looks like a spot where you could have a ton of fun - and I bet you did :thumb: Anyhow, yeah, a nice thing about cross-off wind is how you can have the kite hanging slightly behind the wave or right over the wave - but you don't want it hanging too far behind the wave or you end up havin...

Re: How much wind is too much wind?

It boils down to how fast (meaning, what speed) you are comfortable impacting the water / ground, doesn't it? If you are kiting in 50 knots of wind, that means your body could hit the surface at over 90 km/h in case things go really wrong (i.e., big accidental kiteloop). Even in flat water, that wou...
