yes, a knot does weaken a line! Any line in fact - there is no way around it at all!

I wouldn't do knots!
If you want to do it yourself, learn how to splice!

Otherwise... 70$ for a whole set of lines is actually not that expensive. Are they good quality?

I would still recommend splicing.
