The most obvious thing I can think of is using a pitching wave as a giant berm. Think fully cranked transitions with the foil inside the lip and the mast projecting at 90 degrees to the wave face. That would be pretty cool to see.
Sounds like Gunnar's last video...

Maybe you should just learn to relax your grip - it"s like the difference between pink and purple.

Re: Large compact wings for surfing on a hydrofoil

I recently broke a board after foiling into the sandbar on a low tide day. I’m glad it wasn’t the foil. The waves were forming up nicely tempting me to be careless. That was how I snapped the LF Fish  I have to disagree with this. I demo'ed a Slingshot Infinity 76 surf foil and found it to be ...

Re: Large compact wings for surfimg on a hydrofoil

It seems the first popular wings in this category were around 1100-1200 cm2. Now I see more people kiting on 1400-1500 cm wings. Mine is 1126 (LF Impulse). I wonder if a bigger wing will be even better for small waves. You get more glide, need less power and speed. So yeah :) I have only one mast, ...

Re: Large compact wings for surfimg on a hydrofoil

My Axis 820 S-series... Great for catching lake swell and cruising around. 820mm span, just under 1500cm2. Pics are with the 90cm mast but I owe the 75 now. Board is 145x48, I'm thinking a pocket board is actually in my future too! 38E6BE0C-ADED-4420-928B-A570B8BB8480.jpeg 673400C7-B245-4400-8B16-03...

Re: Foils and board for Downwinders

Axis S-series 680, or 750 if you want more glide. You might find the 820 and bigger too much at your weight. I'm on the 820 and 75cm mast, cruising on the swell is my thing too. Upwind is fine, you can lean it over enough to power upwind but really, just slow down and enjoy the ride at a shallower ...

Re: Cymatic (Tomo MPH) in kiteconstruction?

not to hijack this thread any more but ... @kamikuza - (going by your handle and "favorite beach" so forgive me if I'm not even close...) I'm sure there are plenty of good shapers in Japan since surfing is pretty big there. Finding one you trust to shape you the board you want is another matter. Ev...

Re: Cymatic (Tomo MPH) in kiteconstruction?

local shapers Got $3,000 spare? It's literally cheaper to get one custom made in Europe and shipped over  Got this shaped by Brian Bulkley (San Clemente, CA) for around $625. He's legit - ghost shapes for Lost... and others and I've had my last few surfboards shaped by him. Got some deck pads ...
