Re: ideal LEI for freeride/race

Funny you mentioned the Apollo. I have a 2017 Cab Apollo 14 and just bought a Flysurfer Soul 12 that flies faster with more power than the Apollo 14 imo. A friend also had a 15 contra which we switched off and the FS12 seemed to have more power because of kite speed. Decent drift too. Just listed th...

Re: North Rebel 5th line - any issues?

I have been a fan of Rebels for four years with a full quiver 12, 10, and 7m... Until now. The five line system does feel more direct then older four-line systems, although I think technology has now caught up. The inversions that I have experienced over the last three years have cost me considerabl...

Re: What do people like about kiting in waves?

Flats are great until.... you time the kite across the window and carve a breaking wave Be aware that... you can't do it the first time and the wave breaks you Then when you get that down, try a backroll or big air off a breaking wave that LAUNCHES you like a force you have never felt Experience th...

Re: Warning: if you try sliding hook you will never go back.

So I got frustrated trying to get the dynabar, so I went to West Marine and bought this Amsteel Dyneema line for $4 and a stainless sliding hook clip rated for 1500lbs for $34 and it works great. Toe side and beach walks are easy now. I doubt I will ever use a bar again in surf. :thumb:

Re: Which Cabrinha kites?

I have full rebel quiver, 7, 10, and 12 with settings for low bar pressure on 2012. Love it! Take the time to see what fits you and your preferences best.

Re: 5 line kites...are they any good???

I've had rebel 5 line quiver for about 4 years now and only recall 3 or 4 instances of the inversion wrap. I pull on the 5th line only to flip it back. I am in Maui and wrapped the 5th line right after launch yesterday in blustery easterly wind 22-30 mph. (curiously a day after i read this thread) A...

Re: Maui in August: right kite size

I'm going to Maui for the first time in a few weeks too. :o Gonna stay for almost 2 weeks, 7/30-8/10 and was considering taking the 7 and 10m. I am 165lbs. Do I even need the 10?? I don't really know which board to take either. I have a Shinn monk 130 and mako 150. I also have a 5'9 Wilson su...
