Re: 20m LEI Kites - Its Time

Another one…here we go: www.strictlyhooked.com I am not alone. And leave it to us for what we want to use it. I didn’t realise how few kiters still follow airstyle, Toby, that strictly hooked page is great, but I didn’t see a single reply or question, only views. So considering anyone trying to lea...

Re: 20m LEI Kites - Its Time

and how many customers... ? that is the biggest question of all ! I would say bugger all, with the drift from kiting to winging, kitefoil or downwinding there is no way any brand would contemplate a large SLE anymore. And with kitefoil racers only using ram air the big SLE’s are a dead duck idea.

Re: Gear choice advice for novice

Ok, I’m going against the flow, for your first outings go with the 850 wing, you really don’t want to fly in the first sessions, just get used to the board with the foil attached. Starting with the 1200 will be like riding a bucking bronco, it will fly well before your ready for it but after a few s...

Re: The future of foiling

The motor for Foildrive is only there to get you back upwind or pop you up on the foil. The pleasure/fun starts when the motor is no longer needed, only the power of the swell/wave. Kitefoil will still have its place, in the annoying wind range of 6-10knots. Not enough power in the swells to use and...

Re: The future of foiling

So because you don't know whether to choose a 2.8/3.2/3.7 kite you go efoiling instead? This is beyond my imagination WHY? Any of these sizes would work if you are in doubt :thumb: For low or no wind spots or no wind waves, yes it makes sense. 8) Peter I thought the same Peter, why would you efoil/...

Re: Pump vs foilboard

I don't know if it's a new category. Kite foilers have been on micro boards for many years already. But it has been interesting to see companies make "pump" foil boards and market them as only that. I don't see why they wouldn't also call them kite foil boards unless they think that decreases their...

Re: The future of foiling

I have an 1:15 min drive to get to the surf, or a 1 minute drive to get to our bay conditions with windswell. Foildrive has relegated my kitefoil gear to gathering dust, the swell riding with nothing in you hands is brilliant. It’s a cross between downwind and surfing without the logistics required...

Re: The future of foiling

Do you find that lenght cable best for you? If you get longer cable can you move the motor up and down a little bit? I’m still using the Plus system so can put my pod anywhere on the mast. The Plus works for me as I’m using a very small board which is fully submerged before I get going, by placing ...

Re: The future of foiling

It’s a cross between downwind and surfing without the logistics required for downwind, wave requirements for surf or a dock for pump. How much resistance does the motor part create when it hits the water surface, can it throw you if you are not careful or does it just dive in? Can you change how fa...
