Re: Building my next mast

You need your carbon running at 45 degrees to prevent twisting, but at 90 degrees (along the mast ) to prevent flexing. It is hard to get a mast stiff enough when going longer in a homebuild, that's where the production masts have the edge.

Re: WindFoil - KiteFoil

I agree with everything Peter Frank has said, and my windfoil is gathering dust too. I'll add that if you only windsurfed it is a great option for lighter wind, racing and to get foiling but the kitefoils are just more fun and easier to use.

Re: Levitaz Bionic

Intriguing how a shorter fuselage improves stability, thought it would do the opposite. Maybe more to do with a larger stab.

Re: Any tips on building a foilboard...

Depends how cheap and simple you want to go. Absolute simplest is an old wake board, strong enough just to drill holes and bolt on the foil with a chock under the rear blots to keep the foil square due to the large rocker of the wakeboard. Straps using existing holes or through bolts and pads. Not g...

Re: FlowFoils! Coming soon. Need advise!

If you can build a full carbon fuselage strong enough so that it can be jumped and abused without breaking, go carbon. But, if there is a chance of breaking go alloy. With a low price point you going to have beginners giving it a hiding, and warranty replacements can become an issue.

Re: Cavitation

After some delays due to buying new gear I wanted to try rather than testing old stuff I got round to adding the mast fence. It made some improvement, the foil is now reasonable to ride, ventilation still occurs but only when the main wing is very close to the surface. Top speed has now increased to...

Re: How far do you drive to kite?

60 second drive for 180 degrees of wind direction on sandy beach, 5 min drive for the other 180 degrees, yes, almost like an island.

Re: I'll have to change my name now North Kiteboarding is no more..

So Boards and More are rebranding their gear as Duotone, North is pissed because they don't have time to go with another licesee to use the North name to get gear out for the 2019 season. This means the North brand will cease to exist in the sailboard/kiteboard world till another licensee is found, ...

Re: Possible Hydrofoil sale scam

All those foils are or were listed on the Oz seabrease site, a scammer has just lifted the pictures from there.

Re: Levitaz Bionic

Update, bought the Bionic on the 110 mast. First day out had to move the mast to the rear to stop the bunny hopping but after that no probs. sweet stable ride, bloody quick. Will take a bit of time before I can push the speed through the gybes but all good fun. Thanks for your comments.
