Re: Nomad's concave molding technique

Do you precure your skins before this final step? Thanks for the posts guys , no we don't precure any skins , the kiteboard being built in the above photos is built in 2 vacuum processes , first the top lamination , and then the bottom lamination. Most boards have concave in the center which helps ...

Nomad's concave molding technique

Quick photo of the vacuum bag process , the black plates with the paper tape around has the kiteboard inside. The plates are 5mm thick and are 152x45 , we use 2 plates , one on top of the kiteboard and one below. The black plates are to keep the lamination on the kiteboard perfectly flat whilst bein...

Re: Forces on a twintip

Great topic gentleman , looks like we are all thinking along the same lines. A kiteboard has a static rocker curve which we see when the board sits on a table, in the water with the weight of the rider pushing down and the force of the water pushing up the kiteboard has a dynamic shape , the trick t...

Re: Mutants for stupid conditions!

Great looking build plummet , fine craftsmanship , completely agree with your analysis on the mutant for crazy conditions, you need a bucket load of talent to hang on to a surfboard.

Re: The Hoff WW140 - wave twintip

Corecell is a SAN based foam, which is supposed to have the best properties of X-PVC and Linear PVC (airex), especially in terms of impact resistance. Corecell looks great, send me an email if you need more info, the Airex might be interesting for you. Check out the picture of the f1 car, the hoop ...

Re: The Hoff WW140 - wave twintip

What's your thoughts on keeping to 10mm centre, 5mm tips, but using glass instead of carbon? Carbon's modulus is approx 3 times that of Eglass, so 3 times stiffer for the same thickness. And bending stiffness increases with the square of the thickness, if I recall correctly? So I reckon for the sam...

Looks great, the abs work is first class, very clean and professional, Looks like you are using some 3d software, we use the Rhino software ,all my cnc work is on 3DM files, if you need anything let me know. I am using 6,7mm thickness for standard 80 kilo rider weight boards, the more flex the bette...

Re: Men's Vs Women's boards

Its a great question, production boards are built for riders in the 80 kilo area but have to be safe , in terms that they don’t break, so production builders assume the heaviest rider is going to be around 120 kilos and build the board for that weight limit. So if you are a 60 kilo rider you are car...

Re: The Hoff WW140 - wave twintip

That looks like its going to be a fantastic build, the wave-twintip style kiteboards are fantastic fun. For sure in perfect side shore conditions with lines of waves a surf board is great, but side-on, onshore and offshore winds where the waves are popping up and being pushed around a wave-twintip i...
