Re: some proper Wave foiling with a Kite

So... I did an epic downwinder on sunday. About 40km as the crow fly's. But a lot further zipping back and forward. Wind was about 23-25 knots. Real short period swell with waist to shoulder high waves and chop. It was basically death by 1000 waves! You would jump on one swell, ride it, pop off it a...

I agree with Toby's underlying message. Discover what your passions are and chase them to the ends of the earth. You only have one life. Live it! For many of us that involves more than a singular focus. Family, Job, sports all selected, nurtured, cultivated in an attempt to form our own personal nir...

Re: some proper Wave foiling with a Kite

I kind of agree. While this certainly is impressive riding, I don't see the point of foiling in these conditions. ... If people don't go out in the surf and get experience then we'll never learn how to properly surf on a foil. Define what wave foiling properly is? Is it trying to copycat surfing wi...

Re: Foil - wave riding

Here is some video from todays session at Flag Beach. I am still having to spend too much time and energy keeping the kite flying to to go for the really tight and aggressive turns I want, but I think I am close to figuring out some mods to my ReoV5s to make it work. The weight of the Noir Matter Q...

Re: Foil - wave riding

One particular occasion where an outer reef 1km out was breaking a big lazy 1.5 - double me size wave. I rode that bastard as it broke and reformed all the way into the beach. Pure magic. Becuase it was peeling and reforming i could get close into the impact zone safely and back out again both up a...

Re: Relaunch technique for R1?

If you have bow tied it its game over. If not a simple pull on the landing strap one steering line slightly more tensioned than the other and it should roll and flip back over.

The bigger question is why is it crashing in the first place? R1 is very stable unless the bridles are out of tune.

Better to ask: where is Nak 😉
My guess, because he is from NZ and also those rocks on the beach look much like volcano rocks; He is living somewhere in Taranaki (='Nak?).
Bingo!

Re: some proper Wave foiling with a Kite

@plummet where is that? Side off wind with enough strength and I hope big and long but not too fast ;) (I asked that in the other thread too) If it works regularly I would hop over to foil there with you on my mission ;) I am in Taranaki New Zealand. I do get side off but it is not the prevailing w...
