Re: Could someone please invent a better way to self land a kite in high wind.

hm, i've never had a problem self landing in ~30 knots just by flagging a 4 line kite. maybe the bridle shape has a lot to do with how well it stays put without flying around too much. Then you haven't been out in enough wind! you get to a point of stupid overpowered when theres still too much pull...

Re: Channels on a surfboards

An interesting discussion. How do channels effect upwind performance given that when cracking upwind the water flow as the same angle as the waterline. IE running at an angle to the chine/ channel. Does the channel give you extra drive and better up angles or more drag and worse upwind angle? PS In ...

Channels on a surfboards

What do you guys think the advantages are of channels on a surfboard? Does it give you more stability? more grip on a bottom turn? better upwind? Is there any disadvantage that you can see? http://www.tomosurfboards.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/evo_xtr_custom_boards2.jpg http://www.realwatersports...

Re: Blowing 11mph Gusting 30mph

If you want to live. Rig for the gust. What I mean by that is take a kite out that can handle a 30mph gust. If the 17m doesn't handle that (I doubt it dows!) then rig smaller. Then select a board that can handle the wind range also. What is the gust to lull ratio? is there more 30mph than 11 mph or ...

Not on purpose, but I’ve crashed the kite by accident while on foil and managed to relaunch and keep riding before stalling out. I’ve seen videos of people doing this on purpose.
Next time your out do it on purpose. Get the kite real low, then tap the water with the wing tip!

Not such a problem here. There's 2 hydrofoilers and we usually don't kite at the same time.

Re: How to lift our foils steadily?

Relax. Learn forward and backward more slowly. Relax. Don't fight the foil. Relax. Did I say relax? relax! Do what Yoda says. don't try just do! Add a bit of speed and relax. Lean back a tad, add more speed, when you start rising out of the water lean a little forward. relax. if your getting too hig...

Re: Kite choices for foiling in high winds ?

What about the stability of a small single strut vs a similar sized three strut. Would the single strut do a lot more flapping and be less stable? An Ozone Reo vs a Cloud (no strut), as complete opposites, for example in stormy conditions. Its not really about stability. More about the top end capa...
