Re: Strutless kite in development on Maui

I have read every single page of this thread and would like to say it has been very interesting reading. Congrats to board riding Maui for developing what looks to be the next generation of kites that need less wind to float or be efficient in the sky. My own experience is inflatables to ram airs ba...

Re: Kitesurfing Mallorca/Majorca or nearby year round?

Thanks guys for the responses it looks like winds are pretty light their in the summer and unstable in the winter ie only frontal type systems that probably pass by quickly. I have a 16m lei that I might bring for July as I will there for a month to see how things go with work. Then if we decide to ...

Re: Taipei, Taiwan?

GuanYin is nuclear wind this time of the year if blowing NE which it normally does all winter! You will need 5m-7m kite and water as no amenties at the beach at all although a very very friendly group of guys! Ask for Nico he is the local windsurf/kitesurf shop owner located 300m or so from the beac...

Re: Foil / LEI comparisos on snow, land, sea

Moved to a foil kite 5 years ago (flysurfer pulse 10m) after getting shoulder tendinitis from a switch 3 with a very long throw (and yes probably poor riding technique learning to ride a surfboard). The very short throw of the Pulse 2 and the very soft bar pressure from the bar helped me continue to...

Re: Hong Kong This Weekend?

Also Taiwan (Taipei) is the best guarantee for wind but forget actual wind forecast as long as it's NE you will get 25-35 knots depending on where you go! HK to Taipei just one flight and they leave every hour - limo to the beach 20mins, kite all day fly back that night! Train to airport from Centra...

Re: Hong Kong This Weekend?

Hey Chook! Very fickle conditions this time of the year with the NE monsoon fighting with the Summer pattern try to re-establish itself again so it's all about timing. The forecast can change daily and mostly does there is no way of knowing that there will actually be decent wind this coming weekend...

Re: Boracay or Mui Ne in November..?

Okinawa definitely the go unless you want warmer weather! Penghu is super windy that time of year and cold so unless you own a 6m or 7m kite don't bother or go windsurfing there....Warmer weather pick spot would probably be Vietnam.

good luck.

Re: Kitesurfing in Asia - chasing the wind! Help!

Toby - that is GuanYin or KuanYin so many different ways they spell things in Taiwan, 20 mins from Taipei airport due West to the coast. And yes it is way different in the Winter from what the locals say, big swells and very solid wind. The day those photos were taken the airport reading was 20knots...

Re: Kitesurfing in Asia - chasing the wind! Help!

I have to report that Taiwan was awesome, very relaxing holiday and got to kite 4 days out of 7 which on a crap forecast was awesome... GuanYin provided 2 days of 30+ knots and Chunan provided a couple days of light winds so my girlfriend could get out for a couple good sessions followed by me on a ...
