Re: How much difference a kite type makes?

It is a huge difference across the board. Not just between all around kites and big air kites but all types. There are so many factors that go into it not just shape. Bridals, leading edge diameter, and even the bar high Y vs Low V, and aspect ratio. These all effect how a kite will fly, where it si...

Re: Effect of shorter lines to kite’s high end wind range

The kite can pull the same regardless of the line length. Shorter lines make the flying window smaller, so that the kite has a little less room to accelerate and the operator has a little more time to react. You still have to maintain control and a suitable speed. To a very lesser extent, shorter l...

Re: Why is wingfoiling so popular?

I would say a lot of it is because it is so new. Secondly it is the surfing aspect. So all the old surfers and wind surfers are gravitating to it. I work my winging when I would normally be out on my 12m. I'm not ready for the surf just yet but getting there. The hardest part of wing foiling is payi...

Re: Nice helmet with space for a neoprene cup/hood

Look up the Bangproof soft helmets. I have one and it is the first helmet I can wear a beanie under. Normally I wear a hood and no helmet because they don't work with my helmets. Now I can wear my beanie again and not worry about it flying off my head in a crash.

Re: Anyone regret buying an Evo D/Lab?

I finally got a chance to try one today in the 9m. It is good but it is not this insane game changer everyone makes it out to be. It is grunty so I would have been better on an 8 for the wind today. It is fast but not super fast. For you coming off of an XR5 it would be huge upgrade but it will be d...

Re: Warning, never do this!

I think he looks a lot closer than he really is. We have a spot that is a channel to a refinery so we do have to keep an eye out for them. They all so throw really huge wind shadows that can completely kill the wind or make it super punchy. Not to mention how dangerous the draft they pull can be. E...

Re: Core XR Pro Aluula

I tried the 9m but still an XR. It will loop and catch you but not my kind of kite. Too slow still for me as I prefer faster moving kites. Unless you really can afford them I do not think most people would benefit from the increased cost.

Re: North Reach or Orbit

The Reach is more versatile. I have 7,10,12 Reachs because our winds are lighter and less dense. I have 9m Orbit for windy days. I am 195 right now for my winter weight and the Orbit is underperforming for me in the mid 20s. I can make it work in the low 20s but it is not as fun. Either way you cant...
