Re: Taking Cable Tricks to Kite

Killer, thanks for the tips. I'm still getting a bit more used to riding unhooked but it feels comfortable to me because of wakeboarding (It's just a REALLY weird pull being up so high).

the wind is shit here during the summer but I'm hoping to do some travelling and get some more kite time in.

Taking Cable Tricks to Kite

I'm not a super good cable rider but can do backrolls, roll-reverts, and raleys (hopefully working on a krypt this weekend!) but I finally just picked up a decent board for kiting and really want to focus on wakestyle riding when conditions allow. With that said... Any tips for a fairly experienced ...

Re: one board for cable and wakestyle?

I'm pretty new to the sport but I've been looking for the same thing. I come from a wakeboard/cable background and picked up kiting a few months ago. My wakeboard right now is an 09 Liquid Force Witness Grind series. Definitely not a strong board for kiting, there's a lot of bottom features adding t...

Re: Tampa Bay area

Just noticed this post and it's a bit old but I figured I'd still post in case you're hanging around the forums. I'm in St. Pete and there are TONS of kiters around the area. It's a great spot. I learned about a month and a half ago myself and am hooked. If you want some solid lessons, check out Wat...

Re: Recommend me a Cabrinha Kite

I'm a beginner and picked up a 12m Switchblade as my first kite (Mine's an 09 but I don't think there's any major difference between 09 and 10). It's great! As everyone else is saying, you can't go wrong!

Re: Wake-Style Tips for a Beginner

No tips for cable other than to just edge hard and stand tall. If you bend at the waist/in your legs too much you won't get enough leverage on the line. Take the corner, level off, then set your edge and flick. Don't hesitate and you'll be fine, just stay confident. Oh, and if you're riding on a cab...

Re: Wake-Style Tips for a Beginner

Yeah, a new deck is definitely my next purchase. Should have mentioned that earlier. The board I have I got as a gift from someone who picked it up really cheap so I'm using it unti I can afford something better. I was thinking about picking up a new SS Reflex wakeboard this year anyway for the cabl...

Wake-Style Tips for a Beginner

After years of putting it off due to the expense I've finally taken the plunge in to learning how to kite. I haven't had a lot of water-time yet but I can ride a board consistantly and do basic powered turns, as well as ride slghtly upwind (at least stay in the same spot and not get dragged downwind...

Re: Light Wind Advice

Thanks for the tips. I can ride consistantly with pretty solid kite control. I'm still learning the basics of what size kite/board works in what wind conditions. I guess I'll give it a shot.

Light Wind Advice

I'm a fairly new rider who finally just took the plunge and bought my first kite a couple of days ago(12m Switchblade). Needless to say, I'm itching to try it out but the weekend is looking like the winds aren't quite going to be as strong as I need them to be for this size kite. I'm wondering if it...
