I don't understand the reluctance to use the safety on a kite.
the QR is one of the best ways to land the kite. The reason people don't like it is . . . the lines sometimes get tangled? It is weird why people hate pulling their QR.

some kites love a tethered launch and behave well, others (C kites especially) can't be tether launched as they will tumble downwind

Re: WD-40 weakens kite lines?

according to what I have read, hydrocarbons (wd-40) is fine to use on dyneema rope, the only problem is if it gets inside the strands and causes sand to stick to the rope that can cause wear. You are probably right wd-40 is fine.

Re: Could someone please invent a better way to self land a kite in high wind.

everyone uses the UPPER center line landing but that way is too dangerous for me. All it takes is a little puff of air to get under the kite when it's face down and it will take off. I use the LOWER center line. You don't put the kite face down on the ground. Instead you let the kite assume a U posi...

Re: Soloshot 3 - soup to nuts review

toby I shipped u the two rendered stabilized clips. I used sony vegas pro so I know that works, but there's plenty of great other video editing software out there that can do the same. I don't think there's anything free that will do good stabilization, at least not last time I looked. feel free to ...

Re: Soloshot 3 - soup to nuts review

Toby message me with a clip you want to stabilize (or just link me a viddy you have) and I'll ship it back to you with the FX applied. You can not stabilize an entire 2 minute video with one click. You have to stabilize each video one clip at a time (that's because stabilization works by cropping an...

Re: Soloshot 3 - soup to nuts review

Toby there are really fantastic stabilization features now. Sony Vegas Pro (the fx is called "stabilization") is the one I'm using right now and it can reduce the shaking to zero. Software stabilization is really good right now. You can't really use it on fish eye lens or while zooming though becaus...

Re: Soloshot 3 - soup to nuts review

lol, if only it were that easy. Pretty rare for me to get conditions that good. Also no matter how well you set up, it's nice to have a cam following you, as the background changes when you pan while following the subject. It's a great device no doubt. What would be great is to have 2 soloshots so y...

Re: broken line causes kite damage

I get all kinds of gear failure, I know I don't maintain my gear as much as others and I tend to ride more aggressive, but it's never the snapped line it's the consequences of a snapped line. For instance, if you are near a bunch of trees and a line breaks like when you are launching or landing, cha...

Re: Soloshot 3 - soup to nuts review

sick thanks for the review. as for how hard is it to get someone to film, where windmaker I dunno how it works where you live but where I live, if it's windy and sunny you ain't gonna get anyone to make viddies everyone will be riding! Zero way I can justify about $1,000 for this setup, but still lo...
