Re: biggest regret purchase

Wind Tools Mosquito Pro KS 9+ Terrifying when slightly over-powered . No more than a 4 knot wind range on that kite. Saw the best kiter around at that time get thrashed when he took out his 7.5 over-powered. This water-relaunchable RAM air used condoms with the ends cut off for the air-inlet valves,...

Re: Kite Manufacturing - free feedback

Canopy has to be sewn to the leading edge using triple point not regular zigzag, come on people. So Switch is doing two adjacent passes of 2-point zig-zag for their canopy-to-LE seam, which is kind of like doing a triple-step / 4-point except leaving out the stitch in the middle. Seems obvio...

Re: Pinhole woes

In my experience, the screening leak test ( bladder in the kite, pumped up hard, coated with soapy water ) is only about 95% effective in indicating the general area of a leak. If the LE fabric is in near-new condition, leaking air will not get through the coating on the fabric, and instead will com...

Re: Need info for Epic Kites

If the original valves are still in good shape, then no need to buy new stick-on valves. Just get a pack of Airtime valve traps and use those to re-attach the original valves. Or you can use a urethane glue ( 3M 5200 - get the fast-cure or Aquaseal ) but that will take longer as the glue should be f...

Re: Drysuits circa 2018

Very easy to dry the inside of the suit by just inverting the suit. Also the new breathable drysuit fabrics dry quite quickly compared to wetsuits.

Re: Who makes their own line sets?

Is splicing better, cleaner or what are the benefits? If you gradually taper the buried end of the line, then spliced loop should only reduce the line's strength by about 5 - 10%. With a sleeved and stitched loop, the loop's strength is dependent on the stitches crossing the loop, and generally pol...

Re: Who makes their own line sets?

You only need to learn how to ... . . . . . . . use the carriage return key ( AKA Enter key ). :D Apologies for the thread hijack, but for forum users with their browser's font size set anywhere above 80%, the omission of any paragraph breaks in your lengthy ( 13 sentences ) post makes it appear li...

Why do they carry on with this system?
I wonder if Naish have not been able to obtain a licensing agreement from Slingshot, who own the patent for 1-pump.
