Re: Looking for local knowledge for oxnard/ventura calif

The most consistent spot for wind is Ventura/LA County Line, AKA County. Nicholas is about as windy but the waves are less rideable.

Re: Snowkiting Gliding Fatality

RIP, this sucks. If you heartless monday morning quarterbacks can keep your one-off criticisms to yourselves for at least a few days, that would be great. I feel exactly the same as Matt does here. I can't help but imagine the victim's family, say for instance his poor distraught mother trying to m...

Re: Snowkiting - the best part of kiteboarding, but no one c

OK then, here I am in Provo. All the storms have me confused which way to go. It looks like tomorrow will be a whiteout day at Skyline, so that leaves Strawberry? What do you reckon? Sent you a pm.

Re: Which strapless board to get ?

In my experience any board built with bamboo is best avoided. Any board will break eventually. Bamboo sucks up water once the ship opens up in a fracture and starts sucking up water in its long pores like the proverbial bowling ball through a garden hose. You can't fix it once that happens. Anyway t...

Re: Finally, the perfect wave!

.. I think you're being facetious Bille... .. Don't care what anybody says. The amount effort required to make this happen and happen so well (even if it isn't Disneyland size) is over the top, no matter whether it's a surfing God or an Arabian mullah or a Central Valley fruit picker. Just incredib...

Re: Why do Firewire Tomo shapes work so well?

Ran across this one today. One of the biggest things that may not be well known is just how good of a surfer Daniel Thomson (TOMO) is. That translates to no misinterpretation from rider to shaper and another reason why Tomo's boards work so well. Been riding the Vader for a while now, by far best b...

Re: Death Looping Kites...how to stop them?

if I see someone death looping I will try to save them. Sure, prevention if possible. That's why I also ride an 18 ! no death looping there! I initially had the idea of hitting the looping kite with my board...this way I wouldn't get into trouble myself, specially when trying to catch it... Using a...

Re: Skyline / Strawberry snow conditions?

Cap'n don't go letting Mother Nature off the hook now! Just enough coverage/softness for good riding still but we're as powder ravenous as anyone else! Apparently the pro forecasters are saying it could be a great spring. Fingers are crossed, doing funny dances to the moisture gods. Anything but ea...

Re: Skyline / Strawberry snow conditions?

Windrupted, Yes, you are describing katabatic winds. However, the direction down canyon would be SE, not NW. Yes, katabatic winds are common at the mouth of most canyons. It is the reason why there are windmills at the base of Spanish Fork Canyon I was heading north from the sledder's parking lot b...
