Re: Revl Arc cam: Anybody preorder one?

My friends solution was virb360. It has automatixal horizon levelling which seems to work well. He 3d printed line mount for virb. We are eager to go out and test it snowkiting..

Re: light wind surfboard vs foil board

Sure, I've both foil & flydoor xl twintip. On low wind days (which we have plenty) I cannot imagine that I could go foil any better than flydoor-twintip. Foil and any sized TT cannot compare. The foil will win that game every time. If you can go on a TT you'll be able to go on a door (simple fact i...

... inlined ... I interpreted jakemoore's questions more towards me so I answered those from my conditions.. Someone else on somewhere else would think differently. > But if the water was deep enough would a hydrofoil on the bottom off the door slow and degrade it's low end ? Sorry - I do not under...

Re: light wind surfboard vs foil board

Have any of the people advocating door style twintips or surfboards tried foiling? I just can't imagine there is any comparison unless it's shallow or there is seaweed. Sure, I've both foil & flydoor xl twintip. On low wind days (which we have plenty) I cannot imagine that I could go foil any bette...

Re: light wind surfboard vs foil board

Volume is displacement and for displacement to have an effect, the volume must be submerged. Exactly. Windsurfers need volume board to allow rider to stand up and haul sail up while standing on board. It also needs to support weight of the rider, the sail, trapeze etc. You can imagine throwing flat...

Joriws- have you tried a longboard with your speed3 back to back against the door?
Nope I don't have any surfboards. But Liquid Force Fish -board I own which is stiff little-volume board. In my opinion not as good upwind on stock lf fins.

Re: Ice Kiteboard

Quick comment.. Ice blades, you can order them from steel water jet cutting company. Just sharpen them a bit. Dull = bad. Too sharp = bad. Investigate hockey skate blade about what is good. I used two-radius blade on my blades. So order mountain board, measure axles it has. Draw a cad draving of cur...

Re: light wind surfboard vs foil board

The volume in a big surfboard keeps you up and riding in lulls where the door sinks. Bottom surface is also way bigger, so planes earlier regardless. Select fins carefully and drag is minimized. The flaw in the statement "Bottom surface is also way bigger, so planes earlier regardless" becomes appa...

Re: What to look when buying a used foil kite?

Porosity aka air tightness. Try to breath covering your mouth kite kite fabric. If breathing is too easy kite's air tightness might be gone, on new kite breathing is impossible. There is a possibility to re-coat the kite but actually it is hard to do and usually not worth of the discount.

Re: light wind surfboard vs foil board

The thickness and float of a surfboard keeps you higher displacing less water even when riding, not just when you’re sitting on the board. When you are at planing speed nothing else than bottom touches the water. Check for example Flysurfer Razor - a snowboard/twintip construction directional. It g...
