Re: Light LEI kites c",)

Having Kited for 10 years and being in a typically low wind area (most of the time 10-12kts on thermals, best times in winter up to 25kt and gusty) I have tried all types of light wind kites and boards; Door boards, race boards with their massive fins, Foil kites, LEI's up to 17 (cloud C1). My concl...

Re: Looking for a good kite for Foiling, any tips?

I've tried a bunch of strutted kites. They're all very similar and very good at what they were originally designed for; boosting, going really fast on a twin tip or race board. Foiling is a completely different style of kiting. Just like surfing requires a kite that can get you out of the impact zon...

Re: First fatal accident in our local beginner Bay Area beach

...added to my post...Beginners should be taught that if the kite goes in the power zone they must let go. Trying to recover as a beginner ends up in a looping kite which ends up in trouble. Beginners should only learn to move the kite along the clock face, NOT in the power zone!

Re: First fatal accident in our local beginner Bay Area beach

Right from the beginning I teach beginners to control the kite from 12 to 3 with the left hand only; 12 to 9 with right hand only. If they lose it let go! Teach them from the start to use one hand. Putting two hands on the bar confuses them and likely ends up in disaster.

Re: Looking for a good kite for Foiling, any tips?

If you want to go Mach 10 then get a race foil and a foil kite. That will get your adrenalin going. If you want to do carving, freestyle, waves and generally just have fun on your foil I would strongly recommend Boardriding Maui Cloud kites. So simple, so light and really fun to ride. They have amaz...

Have a look at my post under the Nobile split board. I had a custom made bag from Frank Ornelas at Vitamin Blue

Re: Nobile Zen Splitboard

So after getting the Nobile Zen Splitboard to use with my MHL 2015 foil I was bummed to find out that the 108 cm mast doesn't fit in the Foil Board Check in bag. It might fit in the Master bag (which the airlines could ding you with as it technically is oversized) but I have the foil board bag. So I...

Re: Moses silente packing for a flight

Just a quick addendum to my post above. I got the adapter from Houston Kiteboarding and the Hoverglide mast and base. First off it's pretty heavy compared to a carbon set up, second the sling shot base hole geometry is 90x160. The base screw openings on the Nobile zen are 90x165 so this was NO BUEN...

Re: Moses silente packing for a flight

This unfortunately is the bane of a kitefoiler's existence who travels. The mast length of anything over 90-93 cm is going to cause you problems and run the risk of oversized luggage fees; add to that mast/fuselage units that are one, well that really sucks. So unless you're a dedicated racer that h...
