Re: According to Google Trends, kiteboarding is declining in popularity

Nor-Cal kiting spots are getting more and more crowded every year. In the summertime, weekdays are getting uncomfortably crowded at the popular spots and on weekends pretty much everywhere within 2 hours of the Bay Area is a gong-show.

Re: North Zippers

I have had no problems with their zippers. Of course I take care and fold my kites down very neatly before putting them in the bag. There is no strain on the zippers when your kites are folded properly for storage/travel. Seems like some years are worse than other. What year are the bags (not the k...

ikitesurf.com has lots of good wind sensors on Maui, definitely worth the subscription.

Re: North Zippers

All zippers on my 2 2015 Neo bags have broken. I have stopped leaving my kite bags out in the sun when I'm on the water, hoping that helps existing zippers hold up longer in the future.

Re: FireWire Evo KiteSurfBoard

I'm just a touch south of 70kg and paddle surf a 5'1" no problem even on mushy stuff. Hey Nomad, What's your paddle fitness? When you mention mushy stuff, what exactly are you talking about - 3-5ft slop at Lindamar, or something a bit better? I've got about 1-2 kgs on you and I'm debating if the 5'...

Re: 2018 North Bars

Whoa, hang on. A few years back they changed the center hole lining from metal to plastic to reduce wear on the depower line (which is the same material as most or all rope sliders), but the rope slider chicken loop replacement has a metal jacket? Wtf? Am I missing something?

Don't go to Sherman Island. It's crappy, overhyped and nobody kites there any more. You will hate it!

Re: First fatal accident in our local beginner Bay Area beach

Launching unhooked is the worst kiting advice I've ever heard. You are putting yourself in a position where you have significantly LESS control over the kite - either you won't have full control over steering or you won't have any control over the kite's sheeting. Most kites won't fly as well in a l...
