Ozone Strut Valves breaking after 1 year in tropical climate

Couldn't find a thread specifically aimed at this topic but I've come to realize that this is an issue for many of us who live in tropical 30+ degree humid weather. Ozone strut connection valves get brittle after about 1 year and crack while you're pumping up in the same place every time. This happe...

Re: How to jump out of a big wave when things go very wrong?

I've never been in waves like the photos above but loads of 3 and 4 meter waves. Just as I realize I'm going to eat it (side on direction), I pull the backhand to get the kite pulling me against the wave and I either duck through it or hope for the best in the falls while trying to hold onto the bar...

Re: Kitesurfing and backpacking. Is that even possible?

I've traveled a lot of places with kite equipment in tow in SE Asia. Personally, unless I'm really focused on going to kite spots alone, It has not been worth the extra trouble and fees associated to backpack gear with me. A couple posts up by Cor, had a good suggestion that will likely work out bes...

Re: selecting a kiteboard

So many monk lovers out there including myself. I'm on my 3rd one. Gotta love it when something just works. They also come with a 2 year warranty and top notch customer service from Mr. Shinn himself. No doubt why his brand accelerates to the top. Another board I've just bought but not tested yet is...

Re: Shinn Monkette anyone ?

I've tried the largest monkette, I think it was 139x39 and it is a smaller version of the monk. I don't believe there are any different flex patterns or layups for this board vs the monk at least I couldn't feel a difference other than size compared with my monk.

Re: Single front line flagging bar with Qpower lines

Nice solution Greg! I wore out my first line trying as edt suggested and multiple other bare q line safeties. Now I've got a 6 meter 12 strand larked to a figure 8 in my power line. Just don't like that it twists up with the front line after many rotations. The figure 8 in the front line has held fl...

Re: Xensr Vs. Woo Vs. Trace

Maybe attach all sensors to your kite and launch it back and forth across the window slamming it into the water each time. I'd be interested in these results as its likely about the same g force as a jump and landing and the height will be easily measured by your lines.

Re: Can I paint my lines a different color?

You'd be better of dying white lines to another color. I don't think paint will work and it probably will compromise your lines. Imagine wet paint soaking into your lines and then drying to a harder material and likely chewing through your lines under tension. However North coated their lines with p...

Re: Ozone edge V8 stitching on leading edge

Based on the images, Could it be a problem in the 13m v8 size only? I've been flying edges only for the past 4 years and currently. I don't own a 13m edge but I have 15m 2014, 11m 2013, 9m 2013, 2x 9m v8's and 7m v8. None of the kites show this buldging problem near the stitching. I've never had a w...

Re: Shark free kite surfing destinations!?

November is a great month typically in Mui Ne, Vietnam. There are no sharks, no jellyfish or very few at that time, living is cheap and there's no need for a wetsuit. The only drawbacks are, its kinda far away for a 2 week trip and perhaps the shore break is not easy for the less experienced. If you...
