So if you have $$, local conditions are mostly light (10-12kts), only riding TT board --- 17-21m kites make all sense to me.
Totally agree, in my location I ride 18m half of the time.

Re: Trying to understand kite quiver

Regarding kite sizes in the quiver, it works when kite sizes are roughly 1.5 times different from one size to the next larger size. If one has good skills and needs less kites (e.g. to be light for travel), the difference can be larger, if one needs more fine tuning to the conditions the difference ...

Re: Complete beginner advice..

I do not think it is worth it to buy a dedicated trainer kite because you will need it probably for an hour or so. It would be better to borrow, if it is an option. If you have somebody to instruct you, you can start with like 9m inflatable in 4-5 m/s wind and it should be pretty safe and you can us...

Re: One strut kites - which the lightest of them all?

Interestingly enough, a kite being a one strut kite does not necessarily mean it is lighter than some 3/5 strut kites. Just for comparison -- weighted some of my current kites (all of them are from around 2013/2014): - Ozone Reo 6m (1.9kg) - RRD Addiction 9m (2.8kg) - Gaastra Jet 13m (3.3kg) So it l...

Ok, I’ll give you the long version of my search for the ultimate foiling kite.
Thank you Dwight, this is really good information. I had the same reservations about the Boxer but it is great to know that they have not overdone bombproofing the kite and that if flies light and nice.

Both one struts were wonderful for foiling. Much preferred over no strut, but those two one struts were very different in how they behaved as the wind increased.
Can you elaborate on the behavior and also mention which brands they were? I absolutely agree this is important.

Re: One strut kites - which the lightest of them all?

Thank you for suggesting the BRM Cloud but in their website it says: US shipping only / international service not offered I am also not aware of any European distributors for BRM; Cloud prices are not exactly low and then I also need to add 21% tax since the product comes from the USA and then the ...

One strut kites - which the lightest of them all?

There is a number of one strut kites on the market but it is hard to find the information about the actual weigth of those kites, an exception being Airush. Basically, I am looking for a (reasonably priced) one strut kite for foiling and general riding that is as light as possible but can also survi...

I know that Alpine has a hybrid board http://www.alpinefoil.com/kitefoil-windfoil-shop/kitefoil-foilboard-board/planche-cx-v6s-wave-convertible.html and their foils are excellent. F-one has the Mitu convertible board http://www.f-onekites.com/Products/Surfs/Produit/MITU-MONTEIRO-pro-model-convertibl...

Re: Which watch for real-time speed read out

I am quite happy with TomTom Multisport -- speed displayed in big digits, easy to see while kiting. From reading the manual looks like no max speed recorded and no knots as unit. Your experience? How easy to download session and maybe see max speed? Thanks R H I have never used knots as a speed uni...
