Re: Cymatic (Tomo MPH) in kiteconstruction?

But a global shaper like DT, Cab or Tomo doesn't make it necessarily a good board. Tomos aren't even designed with kiting in mind. If we are talking about wave boards that most kitesurfing companies produce, they are just surfboards with footstrap inserts and stronger shell, there is hardly anythin...

Don't you guys have local shapers?
I am a local shaper. But it does not mean I do not want to ride a fine board made by a global shaper.

Re: Cymatic (Tomo MPH) in kiteconstruction?

In regards to Firewires: I would advise not use LFT or Rapid Fire technology for kite surfing (been there done that). The fin boxes did not hold for me, same for my friend. Right, but the problem is that some great boards come only in LFT. Thanks for advice about the fin boxes, will have to put rei...

Just buy one and have someone add additional glass, or diy. Expensive, I know...
Yes, I suppose that's the right way to do it. I am currently buying an LFT construction board, will add footstrap inserts and a layer of carbon on the top, should be strong an light.

Re: Wind Ranges related to kite Sizes, please share you experience!

I am using a surfboard (very flat rocker) in waves and chop, my weight is 75kg. My figures are something like this:
6m 10 to 17 m/s (20 to 34 kts)
9m 7 to 12 m/s (14 to 24 kts)
12m 5 to 9 m/s (10 to 18 kts)
17m 4 to 6 m/s (8 to 12 kts)

Re: Turbine 19 vs 17 vs Flite 17 On The Ground Comparison

The trouble with this is that the kite isn't a 2D object like you are measuring it, it's very much a 3D object and that's what makes it a wing and gives it lift. So you are basically ignoring one of the 3 dimensions. The surface area of a hemisphere is 2*pi*r*r (6.28 for r=1) while the area of a ci...

Re: Turbine 19 vs 17 vs Flite 17 On The Ground Comparison

Sorry, my post is not about Turbines but an observation about kite flat areas in general. One day, I happened to lay down on the ground my 17m kite and my 12m kite on the top of it. The 17m was larger but only slightly, it did not look like there is 5 square meters difference between them. I was int...

Re: comparison one strut kites

I have 12m and 9m Naish Boxers and love them. They are quick to turn and generate power when underpowered, very manageable when overpowered, great range and playful.
Regarding weights please see this discussion http://kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2398635
