Re: AIRton Clinches The Championship While Keahi is King at One Eye

Congrats to Airton. I got to kite with him for a month on Maui during the winter 5-6 years ago. The guy was amazing in every sized surf. He was so far ahead of all the other pro's there. Glad he finally got a big title, he totally deserves it.

Re: Hotel Recommendation Maui

IMHO I wouldn't stay at the Paia Inn. I would do VRBO in Paia somewhere, or even Haiku. You will need a car but you can do Aloha Rent A Car very inexpensively. Paia Inn is right smack in "downtown" Paia, right on the main street. Kuau, Sprecks, Paia by Baby Beach are way better any day of the week o...

Re: Cabrinha Phenom

I have to disagree on the Trigger not going up wind due to the rocker. I've had 2 different year triggers (the last 2) and an s-quad. First thing someone told me to do with the Trigger was to put in larger fins, which I did. And the fins I put in are 100% glass & very stiff. The thing goes upwind li...

Re: Ram Air Bow Tie Disasters

Foils have there time and place. Climbing a mountain in minutes instead of hours with a kite is an incredible feeling. Getting to the top and flagging out a foil with instant depower then packing it up and skiing down. Ive done over 40'000 feet of skiing in 16 runs in a day using a kite. One of the...

Re: Ram Air Bow Tie Disasters

I flew a Flexifoil 4.9 Blade for years, really years, way back in the beginning of the sport. It was the ultimate ram-air kite. I can't tell you the amount of fun I had on the thing. Kited great surf breaks all over California, as it hadn't been banned yet at surf spots. I could launch the thing any...

Re: Leonardo DiCaprio learns kiteboarding

Busurf has been teaching kiting since the beginning of the sport here in SoCal. He has been on the forefront trying to keep access open for all. He was a lifeguard and helped mend broken bridges between the kiters and the lifeguards. This flaming is completely ridiculous. This sport really has beco...

Re: Liquid Force SOLO kite - anyone have any comments / revi

I may be one of the few that has ridden one, I believe it was a prototype of one a few months ago. A couple caveats; #1 I'm not associated with LF in any way, #2 I'm not a big tech-gear guy-I don't get too into all the bells & whistles etc., #3 I have been kiting since the beginning of the sport so ...

Re: Commitment

Guess I should have put some back-story in there. The guy is rescuing the kite for someone, in the surf, with the wind pushing against the kite. He made it out ok & successfully saved the gear. It took a lot of balls & skill to do that;)
