Re: Pump vs foilboard

Do you need like a pier to run and jump onto the board or can you do it in the sea from a level starting position so to speak?? You either need a dock or another form of getting on foil: - breaking waves to paddle in to - a Foildrive - a DW board and a paddle - a DW board and hand paddles - a wing ...

Re: Pump vs foilboard

Thanks pal. What size would the wing need to be out of interest?? It depends on your weight. The easies wings to learn to pump on that North has are the REFLEXED ones: 2200R 1850R but they will be pretty useless after you've finished learning. Your best bet options in order would be the: HA1450 SF1...

Re: Pump vs foilboard

Pump boards are designed to allow you to glide with both knees straight, because if your front leg knee has to remain bent a little to glide then you wont get the rest you need.

Re: Hit by whale

That's an older one but the most interesting part of that story is that the guy would have been killed by the whale had his wing's wrist leash not broken as the whale was dragging him underwater.

Re: Pump vs foilboard

People have been kiting micro boards for a long time, they work fine if you don't care about recovering from touch downs. My main issue with them is they don't have any leash attachment for when I need to leash up my board to focus on relaunching my single skin kite that I've accidentally flown in t...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

Upwind aswell as Downwinding with it Have any videos? Did you alter the bridal at all? I tried flying my 5m Peak 4 on handles direct to the bridal and it was still waaaaay too long to be any good for downwinding. What kinds of winds do you need to get upwind with the 3m and a HA foil? I feel like y...

Re: Why is wingfoiling so popular?

After that, I will see. But not really sure, as I don't have waves here As long as you have a bit of fetch even 12 knots of wind will give you little bumps you can play with. For me that's really my only focus when winging, riding the waves, no matter how small. go around Quail Island, see historic...

Re: Why is wingfoiling so popular?

As I have very low wind most often, I mostly use the XXL-T, yes. But my results in higher wind and using the L-T are better. As in that wind range I still have enough power going downwind and I don't loose the speed as quickly. Jibing in 9-10 knots of wind is super challenging on a wing vs. a kite ...

Re: Why is wingfoiling so popular?

Have never seen anyone drying their wings, never :o Saltwater does not cause mildew. It's not about the mildew, it's about having a dripping wet wing to deal with in your car / storage. Even with conventional wings, it's much easier to dry a 4-5m wing than a 12m kite. You must have amazing wing dry...
