Re: does the industry have room for another kite company?!

Our model is not heavily disruptive like BEST were and SWITCH are. How is being competitive on price by cutting out people in the supply chain disruptive - it is economic competition? If you gave kitesurfers the choice of buying direct from the manufacturer at 60% of retail or buying through a shop...

Re: Is Cabarete Good for Beginners?

I also learned on Kite Beach in Cabarete. It is very crowded. The kiting area is about the size of 3 football fields lined up end to end, and there are typically around 100 kiters there each day. Maybe about 50-60 on the water at one time. Generally, this area isn't like that one island in the pacif...

Re: does the industry have room for another kite company?!

Interesting point, have been thinking about this myself. I've been making my own boards for a few years now as a hobby and have been contemplating the feasability of actually creating a brand and trying to sell them. I know i can make a board just as good as any profuction boards out there but how ...

Re: does the industry have room for another kite company?!

Actually, it is sort of the other way around in business. If a company first signs a bunch of top end riders and then tries to "pass that cost on" to the consumer, it will likely be a losing endeavor. The cost of the kite is what it is. A good manufacturer performs a market analysis to determine an ...

Re: A Harness that Doesn't push up

And that's why you put a layer of E glass over top of your carbon, if you want it to last. Or kevlar etc if you want to be fancy... I'm sure that there are application where this extra step is worth the effort and cost, but in this case there isn't really any justification for it. Simply makes more...

Re: new aplication of material to build kites

Interesting to see different opinions on the subject. I was just speculating to get an answer from someone that has experimented on it.maybe on the material thickness used and sewing it. Ive use tyvek suits for painting and i dont think that the right thickness. they rip. but the ones used for enve...

Re: A Harness that Doesn't push up

why would you need something stronger than this carbon piece, if that piece is olded by two straps (seriously the weekest link is the straps not the bar  a carbon piece this thick can take a shit load of tension and "flambing" (sorry not sure with my english on this one)) I agree with you tha...

Re: Who is responsible for kite when landing?

The other point Maito... When that gust came through and relaunched your kite, was your buddy supposed to be focused on helping you secure your kite and wind your lines, or on dealing with a gust that is playing games with the kite still in the air that he is still attached to? To even suggest that ...

Re: Who is responsible for kite when landing?

I had one friend who was winding his lines when the kite took off and he got dragged by his fingers which cut them up pretty bad. Wow he started to wind his lines in without even checking his kite was secure, that was definitely NOT the lander's fault :nono: If someone lands your kite, you still ne...

Re: Anyone kited the Slingshot SP Wakesurfer?

Got one of the SPs from silentsports.com. GREAT PRICE to begin with, and I was also accidentally quoted an improper shipping cost (quoted $40 when it was actually $50). They called me back a few minutes later and said they'd honor the quoted price. Great way to run a business. Dave and Silent Sports...
