Re: Gear that has exceeded your expectations!

Latest WOW moment for me has been moving my foil onto a wakeskate and pursuing high wind, carving in wind swells. The wakeskate has so much less swing weight and less weight in general, it feels alive under foot. Maybe most important, it allowed (or required) more front foot pressure, which led to k...

Re: Fire Wire vanguard, Vader adding foil?

I got a used vanguard to do this but haven't pursued it yet. Similar to posts above, now that I'm using a wakeskate I don't feel like I want to use a surfboard for foiling much anymore. But I do find it handy for traveling, I brought a converted surfboard and foil board to Maui and it was good to ha...

Re: Are there foot hooks that don't %*-"@! break?

Sharp corners and no curvature to match the shape of my foot? No thanks.. Sharp corners? Try 10 seconds of filing per corner. Matching curvature of your foot? Seriously? Could glue on some neoprene for padding to make it softer if sensitive feet. Though I guess less of a concern where I live,...

Re: Are there foot hooks that don't %*-"@! break?

Cut a 2" x 6" strip from plastic cutting board. Heat it with paint stripping heat gun or stove element. Bend it into z pattern. Drill 2 holes. Voila, "unbreakable" foot hook for under a dollar. :-) I made one but never used it -- its strength is also a potential negative. For example if kite crashes...

Re: Zeeko Spitfire Hydrofoil

It might happen... I've made a couple sets....a stingy copy and a spitfire homage halfway between standard and xlw (I like to think I was the inspiration for xlw as I'd heard the speed issues and thought a bigger wing would be better ;-) my plan is to make a sup foil set in canard format next. I wa...

Re: Zeeko Spitfire Hydrofoil

Really I think something like a circa 1200cm “Carver XL” would make me quite happy, and hopefully still go well over 20 knots. Even better if a bit lighter than the solid g10 wings... :thumb: Sheet of G 10, a few hours sanding, and a few drilled holes, you have your diy version, with naming rights ...

Re: old fart round the world tour

Some general thoughts: 1) I can't imagine traveling the world & only being focused on kiting. I'd choose places that were interesting as well as being good for kiting - there are plenty of them. 2) You ought to improve quickly enough that kiting in waves will become a major attraction. As an older ...

Re: One Board - Kite and Surf Foiling

I got a 5.6 tomo vanguard with intentions of putting in tracks for combo board....surfboard, surf foil, kite foil, kite surfboard. It is just barely big enough to surf but short enough to be fun kitesurf too. A combo board is great for travel. I already have that for kite foil and kite surf.....bws...

Re: North Neo vs Cabrinha Drifter for wave/freeride

I ha been riding bws for years and lately ocean rodeo roam. Waves when there are any and foiling when not. Ilike to go straight ddownwind in the swells so max drift is appreciated. I just got a liquid force wow. Fun kite but the slightly less drift is noticeable. Wants to fly forward more actively, ...
