Re: A case for full face?

I am more safety conscious than most ... one of the last diehards in my local to still wear a helmet, plus impact vest, 2 hook knives, etc ... "Captain Safety". But honestly I think a face cage is probably a little overkill for kite foiling, at least once you're competent. Weighing the risk vs rewar...

Re: Back to the roots of hydrofoiling ?

BTW, anyone have info or pics of the KBHF skeleton-like board someone tried, that was a pair of boots with a frame but otherwise no deck? Searched but didn't find... thx in advance Can't help you there. But within the past week I saw a video, facebook or instagram, of someone (Kai Lenny maybe) padd...

Re: Ride Engine Size

at 32-33", I had a medium and found it would ride up too much, especially when overpowered.
I took the advice that these tend to fit one size below normal, got a small and am happy with it.
So I'd suggest medium for you.

Re: Chinese KB Hydrofoil : 300 USD + shipment

YUP my sentiments are exactly the same as yours. Last year was the peak and now the deals are everywhere out there even the GW has come down to a reasonable level. Its mindblowing how quickly it changed inside of 3 years it went from bargain basement foils going for a grand plus to now you get high...

Re: Chinese KB Hydrofoil : 300 USD + shipment

A bring forward from this massively long thread, a year or two later. My Takuma clone (Chakuma) is still going strong. Though I am likely selling it soon, as I have since gained a slingshot H4 / batwing. Still need to test it out to ensure I am happy with the performance. A buddy just bought what ap...

Re: For an absolute newbie

There: But more important: the foil has some dangerous aspects to it, in particular if you happen to wrap lines on the foil, where it can become very serious, even life threatening. This is something I would have never thought of myself. I knew risks included (possibly serious) cuts and impacts, bu...

Re: For an absolute newbie

With added info, I may revise my suggestion a little, or maybe strengthen it a lot. I think your idea to skip learning fundamental skills on a twintip or surfboard, and jump right to foil, is not advisable. For one, foiling is hard enough without having to learn kite control and board control while ...

Re: For an absolute newbie

I agree with MattyM: it will be way easier to learn to foil if you already have kite control, and the most transferable skill is on a surfboard. If I was you, I'd find the cheapest beat-up surfboard you can find, master it, then if you don't want to carry on with it, sell it to the next person in li...

Re: too light to drift downwind?

So: has this happened to anyone else? Yes to an extent, I just recently changed my high volume (21 liters) board to a low volume (5 liters or so) and noticed the same thing, the board did not come and meet me, in fact I had to body drag up wind to get it... I didn't think much of it till I read you...
