Re: 17m vs 14m LEI?

I agree that the smaller the kite the more fun it can be, even if it is more challenging (that is part of the fun). I just finished long session with my 6.2m Cloud D. Had plenty of power. I reviewed the wind chart and it was 2 hours of averaging 13 to 16 mph. I realize that I could have just as well...

Re: Big TT or Surfboard for lightwind?

You answered the question for yourself when you wrote: " since I started I've wanted to learn to ride strapless on a surfboard (I don't really know why, I just think it looks fun) I used to wakeskate and I loved the feeling of not being attached." Thus, you should get a surfboard. There are light wi...

Re: BRM Cloud C.5 8.5 vs 8.0 D

I flew the 8.5 a lot and then sold it and have flown the 8.0 a lot since. But I did do multiple back to back comparisons. So please take this as my best guess. I think I can hydrofoil with the 8.0 D and the same low wind speed as the 8.5 C.5 and I think I am comfortable foiling with it at 2 knots hi...

Re: BRM Cloud C.5 8.5 vs 8.0 D

I have flown both of them a lot....as have others...and I expect our subjective impressions would vary. Both are very light and nimble and fast. The D has a little less bar pressure and a little more relative pull from the center lines. The D will turn with very little tension on the lines, the .5 n...

Re: Hawaii - Oahu or Maui in June

It doesn't matter a whole lot which month you are thinking about, in any given month you will have an average of half of the days on Oahu as kitable (if not a hydrofoiler). For Maui it would be over 90%. Good kiting spots on both islands. Chances are on Maui you would use a 9m or smaller and on Oahu...

Re: Looking for a good kite for Foiling, any tips?

For me the choice is coming down to the new Cloud vs. the new Airush Ultra. I have some 5 strut kites and some 3 strut wave kites and have found some annoyances using my old favorites on foil. I am interested more in freestyle carving / cruising. I think the characteristics I want are: 1. Ability t...

Re: New Lift Foil, Tips for attatching to board

I just recently mounted the Lift 130 on a cut down Boardriding Maui Paipo that looks very much like your board. Just as suggested above, I used tee-nuts....these specifically: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IAVJEOO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I imagine it varies rider to rider....

Re: I broke my back, compressions - anyone done similar?

I had T2 and T3 compression fractures. It was about a 12 months until I was completely pain free. I did not find that activity had much bearing on my pain. I am a physician and I recognize that for most (not all injuries of course) things like this, it is simply time that is required to heal. And of...

Re: Cloud .5 model 13.5m2 - feedback please.

I have a 13.5m Cloud.5 kite. I have used it perhaps a for 15 to 20 sessions. Since I am almost only foiling it honestly doesn't get nearly as much use as my 8.5m, since I can comfortably foil with that kite in any wind 11mph and up average. The development of the 13.5m clearly had an eye on foiling....
