Re: Board length and weight

Just enough float is perfect.

sits nice and deep when you put it on edge and runs downwind a lot slower than something with lots of float.

Re: One-size kite - idea - is it impossible?

Great in theory, but performance ranks way above versatility/range. Less complexity in a kite the better. The new single and strutless are the way forward (for certain styles). Am with Plummet on taking the different boards tact. With a foil, you can mount it to another functional board and get the ...

Re: Board length and weight

Went from a 6'1" board to a 3'7" and the difference in feel when losing all that length is massive.

They both weigh about the same.

The shorter board is way more nimble.

Re: I suck at jybes

Plummet, you have never been much of a strapless guy so I don't know why you would opt for that now. Switches are different strapless than with them. Without you can narrow your stance before or even as part of the switch. With straps your more likely to try and hit the wide stance with maybe the re...

The first generation zeeko alloy doesn't have that.

Re: I suck at jybes

Semantics. Important enough but I think were all on the same page. Regarding the learning curve, it makes sense to tease the jibe into its parts and for many of us simple free riders, we will often perform them separate in the course of normal riding. The core competencies of foiling are to be able ...

Re: I suck at jybes

If no one is riding toe side switch there are just two foot switches. From reg to toeside and the reverse. Most find the first (into toe side) easier than reverse. I generally switch into toeside stance just before starting the jibe. Kite drifts high and board bears upwind for a second, is quite ver...

Re: Is Shinn going to produce his own foil?

some similarities but also some differences to the zeeko stuff. The main wing shape with that little tab at the trailing edge and even mounting surface looks very much like a zeeko, and so does the nose shape of the fuse, but the wing is top mounted, the stab is a very different shape and the plate ...

Re: Impact vest vs cracked ribs?

Have sone both. Bad bail on a kiteloop where the spreader bar did the damage, but also did some damage with simple water impact when learning to foil.

Re: Wave oriented hydrofoil

You must be going fairly quickly. It kinda depends on HOW you like the ride waves, and certainly what kind of waves were talking. Most of us are flirting with the outside and not really getting into the same critical spots we do on other boards. Depth being the excuse, but a tumbling foil being the ...
