Re: Is OBX soundside still foilable?

I have mostly foiled in the Kite Point and Canadian Hole deeper water, generally with a medium length mast. It is quite fun negotiating the channel between those two spots, and at high tide and west wind heading across the nearby shallower areas into the other deeper areas or even out into the open ...

Re: Cape Town Diary 2023/4

Thanks ELI. Kruger was great (just five days, lots of lions, a few leopards, hundreds of elephants, and all the other mammals and birds, including a mother and calf white rhino right by the car - my visiting Kiwi sailor friends loved it). But back in Cape Town in mid-February the wind was way down, ...

You have been kiting 25 years and jump 18m, I think you need a new name.

Re: new Nort Navigator Bar?

That pic and ones on the Kitemana site indicate they are now separating the encapsulation of the main center line and the single front flag-out line. Any chance that will help stop sand getting into the main line and wearing it out, unseen?

Re: Cape Town Diary 2023/4

And another great day, albeit hot and wind a little lighter, so I launched 7m Pivot at 2:30 and rode strapless directional fast downwind, turning on every wave. Almost no other kites along Bloubergstrand, so no twintippers to avoid, and the crescent-shaped waves north of Big Bay were excellent, I ev...

Re: Cape Town Diary 2023/4

What a wonderful day. Strong wind, big swell, and long period all combined to yield amazing conditions along Bloubergstrand. We launched at the south end of Kite Beach (Dave, Sean, and me), around 4, and had a great time going downwind. My memory is probably selective, but I recall in years gone by ...

Re: Cape Town Diary 2023/4

I forgot to post last night after a fairly long session yesterday. I launched at Kite Beach on 7m Pivot and twintip, for a change, and struggled a little with the setup. Wind was a little east, so light inside and blustery outside, nevertheless lots of guys going big to avoid. The ride around to Big...

Re: Cape Town Diary 2023/4

After a couple of days of light conditions today was forecast as a reasonably strong NW associated with a low pressure system, more typical of winter here. A gang of us did a downwinder from Bloubergstrand, just short of Doodles, to Lagoon mouth. I was on 7m Pivot and strapless directional, the rest...

Re: Cape Town Diary 2023/4

Thanks for chiming in, Peter, and sorry you did not make it out here this year. Right now you would not enjoy it much! Looks like Denmark in winter out my flat window.

Re: Surfboard for big waves

I like my Naish Global 6', but I put straps on it in big waves. Definitely not a fragile board, at least the two older ones I have.
