Re: another back line trim bar

Someone please straighten me out here. When I trim my kites for overpowered conditions, I am usually taking about 6 inches out of the front lines, maybe 9inches at max. Does this system allow for 6-9 inches of additional length to be added to the rear lines? And how do you regulate that if the depow...

Re: Opinion on lessons

Sounds right for 30 minutes. Assuming you are using the shortest mast, maybe another 30 minutes will have you foiling short distances, and the next one up to 100 yards. And then there is no going back!

Re: Hindenburg

Yup, that's a tough launch site. We have one like that on our lake, but seldom use it. Only thing to do is launch, and immediately get the kite to about 45 degrees and body drag away from the trees. I don't like it at all. Luckily we have several more open launch sites with only a few kites ending u...

Re: lost slingshot glide board in Cap Hatteras

This story does not help you, but it is an extreme example. A few years ago met a cardiologist from Atlanta and his brother in Cape Hatteras on the beach and we ended up doing a short downwinder together. Guy loses his board, a black carbon mucho-expensive board. I see it in the waves on one pass, b...

Re: Hindenburg

At least practice the bar flip on land. Invert a small kite in light wind then figure out what to do. We decided best is to release your leash, and reattach it through the middle lines in anticipation of the bar flip, then do the flip. Will not work with a short leash, but as someone noted, having a...

Call the local shops, someone might be decent enough to turn it in.

Re: 2017 King of Great Lakes Test Fest

A few years ago the forecast was for light winds all weekend, and the various kite company reps brought only light wind kites and boards. And indeed it was light on the Saturday, and I enjoyed riding the Solo when it first came out, and a race board, and saw my first foiling. But the Sunday was howl...

Re: Outer Banks foiling spots

A couple more spots. First, you can foil at Canadian Hole when the wind is too light for windsurfers, and check the Google view, you can get out the NW side of it to deeper water in the open sound. second, if you are staying at or near Island Creek you can ride in the channels out to deeper water, i...

Re: Time to leave Florida!!!

I'll get flack for this, but I'm considering driving to Northern Florida for some kiting ahead of Irma, then moving up to OBX as it goes. I missed out on Matthew last year even though I happened to be in Florida for a conference, because I caught a bug there. This time I have a kidney stone, but mig...

Re: Best hurricane ultra high wind 40 plus knot kite

9m to 45 knots and 7m to 55knots?? How much do you weigh? How was the wind speed measured? I weigh 195 pounds and go to 7m Naish Pivot at 25 knots, and 6m Best Cabo at 30. Seldom kited much above 30, which is usually the highest we get here in Illinois, or Cape Hatteras outside of storms, or in Cape...
