Re: jerry of the day

I would have got about 100 feet from shore, punched out and drifted in, if I was seriously over powered. Also he clings to the bar instead of letting go, and punching out instantly. QR is useless if you don't practice using it. I use my QR all the time, even after I safely land instead of unhooking ...

Re: Kitemare

Yes I agree with all of you on flagging and releasing the kite and I was constantly weighing my options up to the point of no return. Had I been in a more secluded spot I would have released the kite and swam in. A lot of the problem was lack of riding in those conditions. We have weird winds in ou...

Re: Let’s Make Kitesurfing Safer… There is an Easy and Effective Way!

I know this thought may not work for every teacher making a living, but if I was teaching I would make it mandatory that all my students do a video classroom with me and other beginners...at the worst I would have a private video on youtube they would be required to watch a few times before a lesso...

Re: Help! Switchblade 2017 vs Evo 2017

Does not make sense to upgrade a 2016 for a 2017, in a blind test you would probably be unable to tell the difference. Agree!!! I never buy kites till late in the season till next years models are coming out. I usually get at least 30% off list.. Just asked what kite is better for my goals, Evo or ...

Re: Launch Unhooked!

I hate to say it but at most kite launch spots ive seen - most kiters dont know how to hold the kite correctly when assisting a launch. This is a bad combination. The amount of times ive had to point to the rider in which direction to walk for a safe launch is crazy. If the rider is in the wrong pl...

Re: Launch Unhooked!

Should be titled...Pre-Launch Unhooked! Because after you are satisfied with kite's behavior on the ground you put the chicken loop in harness hook then bar is grabbed to send the kite upward Real launches unhooked were done with pulley bars....ahhhhh the good old days Exactly!! I think that's part...

And if you are launching someone, Never stand their kite up till they are hooked in and ready with both hands on the bar.

Re: First fatal accident in our local beginner Bay Area beach

Also if you launched unhooked, wouldn't that mean now you have to fiddle with your donkey dick? Seems like that could be an unnecessary distraction at a time you can least afford it.

I used two screws in each hook strap , front to back, with the RAISED BLACK TWO HOLE PLASTIC WASHER THINGIES that come with most foot straps.

Re: First fatal accident in our local beginner Bay Area beach

Hi guys very sad and this is a reminder to NEVER LAUNCH HOOKED IN! Regardless if self-launch or assisted launch, just hold the chicken loop in your hands. Don't touch the bar. Do the normal thing (walk backwards if self launch, give thumbs up if assisted); when the kite launches it will just sit th...
